991.2 GT3 - P dealer's won't negotiate?
#76
I think at this exact point in time towards end of summer and not much inventory out there a unit with 2000 miles at 20-25K under would make me think it was in an accident or something was up with the carfax, or you'd be the 4th owner and it had some kind of electric gremlin they couldn't sort out...otherwise that's a smoking deal at the moment...if its a perfect specimen and build for you then do it, otherwise I think the consensus I'm seeing here is wait it out through the end of the year - 992 might be announced in September (or next March) and might be available as early as spring or late summer....or delayed an entire year...but if announced in September and available next spring, then I suspect used market would pick up significantly from people upgrading and would expect prices to drop on the 991s by 10% or more...I don't see Porsche getting away with a big bump in the 992 MSRP if they expect to sell them, unless they truncate the run...

I'd probably ask $165k and I think you'll find serious buyer pretty close to that number quickly. Real buyers who know the market will recognize that the car is priced correctly and won't last long, IMO.
Just sat & read through the thread over a scotch. My car is NOT for sale but based on some of the comments here, wondering what some of you think my car is worth on the open market. 2019 w/ 5,xxx miles $180k msrp.

Been watching the used market for quite some time now. That spec with 5000+ miles would be listed somewhere between 168-172 by a dealer at CPO. If a touring it would be listed at 10-15K over MSRP. If it is a non-dealer used car sales place it would be listed for about 1000-2000 under its MSRP (so 178-180K I'm guessing - oh yeah you said 180 MSRP so about right) as to them its a gold mine. If PDK less money than Manual. Chalk doesn't sit long. I missed out on 2 of them because won't buy unless I can physically see the car and they both sold within a week of being listed...
On my monthly net worth tracker that I keep I have it pegged at $165k exactly, as the number that I realistically think it is worth so I completely agree with you. Funny thing is if someone offered me MSRP today I wouldn't be the least bit interested. Thats when you know its a special car (for me at least).

There’s your answer then! it seems the 991.2s are on this price cliff right now fetching great prices with lack of inventory from COVID and as soon as 992s arrive suspect/expect those values to drop once crossgrading starts happening. Personally for me negotiating on a touring and believe I have it but won’t believe it until it’s signed for....but last week if your car came up at 165, here I am!
