991.2 GT3 - P dealer's won't negotiate?

In my experience the offer price has to be relevant to the market, not the asking price. Different dealers have different strategies of asking vs. market, so asking can be from market value to 20k more than market value. There are some dealers who ask much more than market, but will still take market.

It is what it is...the MT 991.2 GT cars are highly sought after and the very low mileage examples carry a premium. Tell your friend to just be glad he isn't shopping the 2011 GT2 RS MT numbered cars

Hello all,
I have a question that my friend wanted to run by you. He's in the market for a .2 GT3 6 speed manual fully loaded and made offers on a few for sale by Porsche dealers. They are all 2018 very low mileage (<2k) mile cars with build sheets between $170-180k. He offered around 10k below asking price which he thought is reasonable but so far each dealer told him to get lost and said sales prices are already competitive, it's a rare low mileage car, etc, etc. Are his offers unrealistic or are the dealers he is working with just being snobby? He said for all other exotics he has dealers were happy to work out a deal. Any thoughts? Thanks

He’s just not interested in negotiating with, ahem, your friend.

Are you implying asking was MSRP? What was the asking price?
If asking is MSRP, i dont believe that $10K off a 2 year old car is that far off. If asking is significantly back of MSRP and he comes in $10k below that - then he may not be serious or they may not perceive him as serious? But what do i know? It all depends on color / options. I assume he's looking at winged cars. Touring prices are stronger. And its also middle of summer and new GT3 is not available yet - so this is the strong price season.

This. $10k off MSRP is perfectly reasonable. $10k off asking is aggressive at this time. It’s about timing. I got mine with $180k MSRP, $170k asking, 3K miles, perfect build (for me), bought for $160K December. End of the month, end of the year deal. I’ve noticed the asking prices have gone up this summer.

The simple fact your friend has approached several dealers with the same tactic ie $10K under ask and has not received a counteroffer or response speaks volumes. Either every dealer he’s dealt with is “snobby”, or his offers arent reasonable (or maybe he’s not perceived as being serious). As it has happened multiple times, I suspect it’s not the former.
Agree with those who have stated its not about the price relative to MSRP in absolute terms- it all depends on the car- so to approach buying a GT3 with a one size fits all approach or expectation doesnt work.
Woah, a 70+ year old woman just drove by in a red E60 V10 M5 in the hospital parking lot...Certainly don’t see that every day

I'm in the market for a 991.1RS or 991.2GT3 and wonder if I should just wait it out... or simply get a 991.1GT3 that are already heavily devaluated. Seems like every option is good and bad at the same time. lol

I think the big variable here is price and availability of the new one. I was thinking about trading my 981 GT4 for the new 718 4.0 GT4 when it was announced, but Porsche increased the price significantly on the new car and it wasn't all that much more to just get a GT3. I've been tracking 981 GT4 pricing and there are far fewer for sale now than there were last November when I sold mine, and pricing hasn't changed much if any. With the premiums .2 manuals were bringing for awhile, you can bet that Porsche isn't going to leave any money on the table with the new car.
I agree. I have a feeling that comes spring and the first deliveries on the 992 GT3, there will be a lot more 991.2GT3 for sale. Prices on the 991.2 will likely fall shortly after.

Hence, why you are seeing smart buyers jumping on the .2s. They are bargain as you will see in a year.

I'm sure that Porsche will do a good job - they rarely produce a new model that isnt better than the last. But it will cost more. The Turbo's are on average $14K more base. I am sure the Gt3 will be $20K more and there will be the usual shenanigans to get one even now. Its not a large # of cars. So the 991.2 is a desirable option. Just wait till November if you want a better deal.

Your friends going to have a hard time finding a “deal” right now. I looked for months recently. The cars that came and were priced well sold right away. Most of the 60+ .2’s have ****ty packages or a horrible color. The white/chalks with the right packages and price sell right away.
the dealers know what they have and won’t give them away.

I like the 992 - literally except for the rear. Front on and side on - it looks great. The 997 and 991's looks great from all angles.
