Inflation seems to be everywhere, everything is up AND sold out. I know the Fed puts electronics in their "market basket of goods" in a measure of inflation, that has to be what keeps the measure down because everywhere I look, things are a lot more expensive....and we just passed another 1.9T aid package.

My COGS are up and most customers are very accepting of price increases. Before it would be like pulling teeth from a hen

Here is the craziest asking price I have seen yet. Original MSRP is $166,950.00.

Insane! It all changed so quickly. I think a lot of owners are cashing out before the 992 GT3 comes and the prices for 991 Tourings are high. A good amount of Tourings are coming up for sale at these insanely high prices. A month ago there were hardly any for sale.

Widespread inflation because of a few hundred Tourings? I would beg to differ. We have approx 10M more unemployed than before the pandemic. I would say that inflation will be present in luxury goods that are scarce e.g. Rolexs and manual GT3's because the top 1-2% have done very well since Covid hit and have nothing trivial (like international vacations etc) to spend their money on. You cant drive a stock or cash. Also, borrowing money (again if you can and have the assets) is very cheap - low interest rates to purchase toys, second homes and remodels.

I'm no expert at these things but it seems like this is the worst time to buy.

Once
1. everyone has the vaccine and is no longer bored sitting at home
2. all the manufacturers have caught up/ramped up production and in general more cars are available
3. the 992 GT3s start getting delivered

I would guess prices should be much lower this fall for the .2 cars. (This excludes the Touring cars. I still dont get why a wing delete fetches a $30k premium.)

I hope so, I really do but they're printing way too much.

Not sure how much longer this goes on before Touring owners like me really start to think about the economics involved at the reality of these levels of appreciation.

I would just buy a manual VW GTI for a year or so and wait for prices to settle.

Easy solution to that problem. Drive the car. Quick reminder of why people will pay crazy money for them. They are great. One of my all time favorites.

How is everyone feeling about the upcoming 992 announcement on Feb 16? How soon after do we think 991 prices will generally start coming down a bit?

I don't think they will drop much relatively soon, once 992 GT3's start landing and people start trading in, then we will see a slight decrease in prices.

It is interesting to see the market ebb and flow. I remember negotiating on a '07 turbo in '09 and thought I got a great deal. Who could have predicted that car would be worth today exactly what I paid then. I also remember almost trading it in at Porsche North Houston in 2011 for a 2010 3k mile grey/black GT3RS. They offered it to me at 129K. I'm sure there are plenty on here who have similar experiences over the year. Regrettably I didn't buy the RS, and that memory has stuck with me. I don't necessarily dwell on it per se, but it is hard not to think about what if when that car today with 20K miles is selling for 160-180K. So who knows what will happen. I do think the sought after and beloved (non numbered) cars in any 911 generation tend to hold strong. It is reasonable to assume the same outcome for the touring.
