I think I am not sure why someone would import it and convert it to MPH. Is the Canadian market not big enough or is it more profitable to move it across borders and do a conversion? In any case, I will concede that it isn’t a showstopper, more just something I don’t understand.

No conversion is required coming to the US as the only difference is the analog speedometer and a different parking brake symbol, though a gauge swap is cheap. As to why, Canadian cars tend to have a lower resale value within Canada compared to US comps, making importing a good option even with the 2.5% duty.

Price seems to good to be True vs window sticker however it is a Canadian car, was in an accident with ‘minor’ damage, and is certified albeit not by Porsche but apparently the same warranty.

Would you consider this car?
Not saying this would happen, but Carfax stating damage as "minor" is never set in stone.

I got mildly burned by this before. Found a car through a used higher-end exotic place (also acquired from an auction). Carfax stated it had minor damage (but the Fox said "don't worry") from a year or so prior. Then two years later when I went to sell the carfax read like it was driven off a cliff.

I was left holding the bag and did my best to piece together what actually happened. I would do some internet investigative work and see if you can get documentation of what actually happened to it.

It does, demonstrated many times over.

Interesting. A bit odd given CA and USA are identical cars, short of the two exceptions at the gauge cluster of course.

Is there any particular reason? Climate? Or PCNA fear mongering? I’ve heard them claim they won’t honor warranties on cars brought down, but I’ve spoken to a service advisor and technician who says that hasn’t been the case in practice— but in the case of 991.2s, factory warranty has expired regardless.

It's nothing other than an oddity of the market, imo. It just is... For GT cars, and I was exploring 992 Turbo S's the other day. One stuck out as a deal by ~10k relative to others, and it was born in Quebec. It's just a thing.

A 992 makes sense given the potential pushback on warranties — again not in practice from what I’ve been told Is Porsche going to tell a US customer it won’t work with them because a previous owner moved from CA with their car? No; that was the theoretical situation my service advisor gave me when asked. And while I don’t know the specific car you’re referring to, $10k seems like quite a low delta considering the massive price spread among 992 Turbo Ss.

I feel you’re right as I’ve heard others continue to say the same, but I just haven’t seen enough data points on imports once they are here- certainly impacts value when importing though due to the cost and time involved.

Applies to 991 gen GT cars as well. Explore this voluminous thread and you'll run into various examples.

Turbo S I'm referring to sticks out because this one dealer has a handful of same, Quebec car is the one at the discount. But it's just a continuation the same value disparities US vs. Canadian cars.

fs thread OG's -- wasn't it a Carmine Touring in CO that sat and sat, dropped price many times? Think it was even CPO? Maybe the strongest example of Canadian car discrimination that I can recall.

RE: CA cars… I just assumed it was another way for car dealers to acquire quality assets at a lower price, e.g., import CA car and sale at the market price in the US. Have a friend who purchased a CA 991.2RS from a dealer in Charlotte. He had the car 2 years or so. I then sold it for him here on RL No penalty or discount given for being a CA original car. For other 911 models maybe different outcome, but not on this one.

my buddy bought a CA 991.2 gt3rs , was already in the states, and he only changed the speedo overlay to mph even though he doesn't even look at it, he just looks at the digital speed lmao. overlay was crazy cheap but he said he was stressing when swapping it. lmao.

he mentioned the original buyer did buy the car cheaper however after import and taxes it was basically the same. he wasn't trying to save money it was just a spec he wanted

Yes, and that exact car is now for sale at Porsche Naples:

https://www.porschenaples.com/used-N...AC2A95JS175726

I think when it was listed before by Colorado Springs they were asking around $240k for it for the longest time. That was in the era when I was trying to find one of these cars, so I remember it well.
