Default Aww Crap... It's Another .1RS vs .2RS Thread

I can't believe I'm even posting this but as I get closer to pulling the trigger on my next track car, two questions keep coming to mind. I'll post the second question later but for now...

For someone looking for a DE-only car, is the .2 RS really worth a difference of $30k to $50k over the .1RS?

Maybe the .2 is more reliable. Maybe the .2 is a bit faster. Maybe the warranty is longer (of course it is). Maybe the brake ducts are better on a .2RS, but it is worth the price delta?

Read what the like of JCR and others say as their testing shows minimal differences on track.

I am sticking with my .1 until the 992 RS comes out.

one thing I have noticed in addition to the suspension changes is the pdk shifting which is much more like a sequential gearbox in the .2 compared to .1
but yeah may be best to wait for 992 at this point...
maybe ADM games will be less of an issue given "new reality"

The gap is getting a lot more reasonable these days esp if LG is your thing for a .2

30k - .2 RS for sure.
I wouldn’t buy a .1 RS.

Since we've had this thread before, I'll make the comment I've made before. If it's truly a DE only, no road use car I'd suggest seriously considering a race car.

In my area, there is no place I feel could be trusted to service a genuine race car. It's just my opinion. We have a decent P dealer about an hour away and that is it.

9000 rpms and yes it's worth it. The suspension for track is sublime and the engine is just bulletproof, .2 all the way.......flame on

I have 40,000 on one and 20,000 on the new one and a lot of track time.

For track time it’s not even close. The .2RS is much faster.
But that gets negated if you are a few seconds off the pace of what the car can do.
On short technical tracks also.

.2RS aero, PDK and motor are much nicer.
.1RS is pretty bullet proof but my .2RS got a new gearbox.

On the street the .1RS is much softer and quieter.

Is it worth it? I think so, but I want to go fast on fast tracks and roads are nice in FL mostly.

I drive the .2RS on UK roads and it’s barely drivable.

if money doesn't matter, you have *** of steel and road are more or less smooth, .2RS no question
if any of the above is false, .1

If we are being intellectually honest, the only situation in which it would ever truly be a “$30k to $50k” difference is if you intend to dispose of the cars for scrap value at some point in the future.

The residual value at any point in time will always be materially greater for the .2 than the .1. Sure, you may pay incrementally more in state registration fees and experience nominally more depreciation, but the true cost difference is rather trivial given the amounts of money we are talking about here.
