Sorry to resurrect this old post. But why are we seeing .1RS prices close to (sometimes equal) to .2RS in the current crazy market. Especially considering the more aggressive aero and body bits, standard backup cam and apple car play, additional warranty coverage, higher rpm, improved pdk, lack of particulate filters in the US etc.. Am I missing something? yes it appears the .2RS is asking a 30-50k more on the surface based on mileage, options, weissach etc., but if you look close enough the actual sold prices are sometimes only 20k apart

You summed it up well. My guess is the reason they remain strong is because they are great cars. It is still a lot of car even at 200K. Jump to 300-400K and there are plenty of cars I would trade for, but at this price point (IMHO) it exceeds my expectations.

i know they are great cars, even better at 150-160k half a year ago. But so is a .2RS. At over 200k the .2 seems like a better value? unless people just hate lizard green so bad lol they rather pay for a .1RS in other colors (70% of all .2RS for sale are green). Inventory is about the same for both models

bc not many drive both hard before they buy! .2RS is for me the more interesting hardcore car.

When it comes to value or price my take on that is this... buy the one that makes you happy, e.g. color, style bits, etc. As was mentioned, some like the stiffer suspension and ride on the .2, and for the really hardcore some might be able to extract better lap times. For someone who studies the market or one who remembers the highs and lows regarding pricing, that cycle can be rewarding, frustrating and in some instances a distraction from why someone really wants the car in the first place. Many on here, myself included, can share the what ifs, shoulda kept it, etc...for example 997GT3RS both versions, 997 turbo, 997GT2. And, many on here remember when the .1RS was 220K all day. So if that memory stuck then maybe it's still a bargain at 200K. However, some choose to remember when you could buy one at 150-160 and now wish it was that way. That's the distraction part and if someone can't let that go the whole car enjoyment part is out the window. There are many people who want a 5k miles .1RS for 160 and a 5k miles .2RS for 200k. It's why you see people respond to one or two year old ads on here when cars were at the low point. The dream of buying below the current market clouds reality and they don't even recognize that ship sailed when responding to the outdated ad. Best value = staying within ones budget and driving as much as one can.

Where did you see the prices of .1 and .2 RS being the same? I traded in my .1RS only two months ago for a .2RS and the trade in differential was $45K

I think for a dedicated track car I'd get a 781 GT4 Clubsport race car, all the cup cage and feel with a road based engine and gearbox.

Well the engine in the .2 is not bullet proof. I know a lot of people that had engine failures at the track. Basically there's a problem that lead to the oil pump being under driven and at 9k rpm on track ... well the engine stops, the cluster lights up Christmas tree with a low oil pressure message, and the car will not fire up again.

That's inevitable from squeezing out more output from a 4 L engine. PAG needs to switch to 4.2L to make 992 3RS a worthwhile upgrade.
