Default Touring with Surface Transform (carbon ceramic) rotors

Thanks to Peter (TRAKCAR) for the set of like new Surface Transforms (https://surfacetransforms.com/)

All 4 corners were mounted today at Leith Porsche along with some RSC1 pads.

The opportunity to lose some 50lbs of rotating mass, reduce dust and mount up 100k miles of brake life (I won’t track much) were compelling.

Generally I prefer the OEM product and of course I looked at a take-off set of PCCBs but really the STs are better than OEM. The STs can be refurbished, a handful of times, and are measured by thickness and not density like PCCBs.

A set of STs, the same dimension as the OE, are easy to mount to the steel/Red calipers. Use longer caliper bolts with spacers (15 in front & 10 in the rear) to push the caliper further from the center of the hub. Additionally longer front brake lines (PCCB brake lines), that’s it. (installing the front brake lines is tight with the FAL close by!)

I took the opportunity to detail the wheels while off. (the Dunlops looked great)

My first drive it felt like less rotating mass for sure, acceleration was mega, but maybe I’m full of ****!

I did have to bed in the pad/disc combo which involved 50 stops, ranging from 30 to 0 & 75 to 25, that was interesting on a public road.

Curious, did it cost less than PCCB optioned from factory, $9,210?

Looks great by the way. Likely the only car with red calipers + ceramics!

Awesome... Congrats. I went with rsl-1 pads, bit more aggressive and longer rotor life, along with SS lines, caliper studs to make pad rotation easier. The break-in procedure is fun and man do they start to bite. I like the feel much more than OEM PCCBs, as those feel dead when cold.

Thanks!
New is $14k, but I did get them for less from Peter/TRAKCAR. So much like the LWB seats cheaper when you specing the car.
This was my first new Porsche and I was just happy to get a Touring w/ PTS!

Thanks man, nice to see a 2RS getting the treatment.

Hmmm, but you are the style maven. Gold on gold?

I'll try these eventually. When the OEM PCCBs give out, I'll switch to these.

Not that I know of, but I agree. Haven’t met any local GT owners, but I also have a toddler so my CECC membership has been barely used.

Are these pads quiet too? In the push-pull compromise trifecta of bite, noise and dust; the steels and stock pads seem to disappoint in all areas. I suppose this may be in the name of durability.

Hefty price tag on these things; however, over the long haul I’m sure they payoff and probably do well on the second-hand market.

They seem very quiet, as quiet as steels, maybe a low "rumble" at 15 mph, but I'm not sure, I might be hearing/looking for something! When doing the install we noted the RSC1 pads had no dampers to quell any potential vibration unlike the factory pads. Certainly they are more immediate in their bite on braking. Car also seems to accelerate quicker - lower rotating mass?

FYI these brakes are OE on Koenigsegg and the soon to be released Aston Martin Valkyrie

Alright! Will replace to these when my iron rotors give out
Love the carbon/red caliper combo, have it on my F430...

What brake dust? During the bedding in I did 40 stops from 75 to 25 (20 were heavy) and when I got home I stuck my fingers in the wheels and all I could see on my fingers was some very light dirt. (was difficult to discern if it was road dust or brake material)
I'd say at 98% less dust than if they were steels.
