GT3RS
I know there have been many posts comparing the two, but I see recently that a few have switched from the Turbo to a GT3RS. I have been looking at getting a Turbo S, but I have always wanted a GT3RS, especially in Lizard or Purple. I also am hoping that the current situation will allow me to get a good deal on either. For those that have switched, can you give me a quick synopsis on why?
FYI This will not be a daily driver.

Why - The car has exceeded my expectations in every way - quality (interior, exterior, paint, etc.), sound, feel and driving experience. Mine too is not a daily driver, but it handles the roads flawlessly. I expect a car in this price range to deliver in many ways, and this car does.
The turbo S and 911 turbo in general is a great car. IMHO the best understated supercar like performance out there. And the boost never gets old along with how the AWD complements the power. For me it ends there and it is not close.
Subjectively and humbly, while some characterize the turbo as an executive cruiser, the RS makes you feel different. The sound and handling are off the charts. There is plenty of power and performance to match. It isn't a drag car; it is a track car. Some might reference how capable the turbo is on the track and it is. However, don't be fooled. Driving a turbo S is not the same as driving an RS. If I had to choose only one non-daily driver it would be the RS.
Note - if money was no object I would have purchased the GT2RS. I will never grow tired of what Porsche does in their turbo platforms and when it is paired in a RS it is sublime.
Good luck!

My preference in the sports car realm is a car that sounds amazing, and is visceral and fun. I don’t care about comfort. In fact, I don’t like it in a sports car. The GT3RS delivers on all of that.
I installed the full Dundon system and the exhaust sound is just off the charts now. For me, the way a car sounds is huge. The fact that the GT3RS revs to 9k with a higher compression ratio is just going to give it a sound you won’t get with the turbo IMO.
It won’t have quite the straight line speed, but I think that’s overrated compared to everything else the 3RS gives you, which is an ultra precise, loud, stiff, and visceral track weapon.
If you favor comfort more, get the turbo, but if you favor the above, get the 3RS.

I'm paying close attention to this thread. When I traded my 991.2 Turbo (non-S) for my PDK GT3, I had fell in love with the PCCBs, the sound, the PDK gearbox changes in a GT car, and the rev-capability.
Now about a year in, and here's a couple things for you to chew on: I miss the rear wider Turbo body (which you get in the 3RS too). In fact in the 3RS, the air intake for the engine is actually on the rear side fenders. Which is awesome. And do you know that those NACA ducts in the front lid are meant for the brake cooling? NACA was the predecessor to NASA. And the roof is magnesium, for God's sakes.
On the GT3, there are times when I HATE the Bose sound system. When I hate red stitching. When I dislike the rough ride on terrible roads.
I've come to the conclusion that no car is perfect. Everything is a trade-off. It would be awesome to have a car with 553 ft-lb of torque, Burmester, and 9000 rpm rev capability with wide variation in PASM. It does not exist.

For me, my TTS was a sterile mind-bendingly quick impersonal tool. The speed of the TTS forced me to another level of spatial awareness because everything in view was way closer than it appeared.
My GT3RS on the other hand is this raw sensory fulfilling beautiful weapon. I may have hit a top speed of ~45mph on my initial drive but damn that noise, the feedback....I literally stood in the garage staring at it from multiple angles for a good 60 minutes when I first got it home. I Loved my TTS but it was never like this.

Interesting thing as it turned out, bought a one owner car from a guy who lived 250 miles from me.

Mine had 1200 miles on it when I bought it. Just meant it was already broken in. These cars are pretty durable, I wouldn’t worry about it.

+1 - If Porsche warranties the damn things out to 50K or more, I fail to see how anyone could do anything in 1000 miles - other than wreck it - that wouldn't show up in a good pre-purchase. My car didn't even see 6000 rpm in its first 1000 miles.
