That’s cool. I’m glad it worked out for you. Most petrolhead drivers I know don’t feel the same way as you. There’s no right answer, just do what is best for you.
Maybe because I have two other manual trans sports cars that aren't Porsches.
I have manual cars to scratch that itch, but I also love the PDK in my RS. Now that I have the Dundon package I get some pretty awesome cracks/pops on upshifts that I don’t think you’d get in a manual.
I also have manuals to scratch the itch. Conversely, PDK provides its own form of fun a manual can’t deliver

From my personal driving preference, I like driving the PDK car more, then once in a while I want to jump into a manual and do the No Lift Shift, but I wouldn't want to drive a manual all the time, but conversely I wouldn't mind driving a PDK car all the time. So as long as I have a decent manual car to drive once in a while, I've got my itch scratched.
this is what the Pilot Sport 4S look like on the car
Doesn't the .1 RS wheels have different offsets than the .2 RS wheels?
Also not only different model tires have different side profiles, different N rated PSC2 tires have totally different side profiles too. Here's my Touring on N1 and the RS on N2.
So I'm kicking the tires on a Lizard Green CPO GT3RS. However it doesn't have the Sport chrono clock, but still has the PDK sport button. Does this just mean I lose the Track Precision App and the wart clock with timer? Or do I lose launch control as well? Figured I'd ask the experts in this thread. Thanks-
chance6... Can't confirm the answer to your question but thought you might have been referring to the one in Nashville listed at 185K w/3,000 miles and the Weissach package (236 MSRP). However, that one had sport chrono and sold quickly.
It's this one- but no LED headlights either. No Sport chrono- as long as the PDK shifts with the same urgency in Sport, I guess the wart doesn't matter too much on this car. I may go take a look!
You might as well look and take it for a drive. Even if you decide you must have chrono and LED, at least you'll know how it drives and your appeal to seeing it up close.
I can’t imagine you’d lose launch control? I bought my 3RS from them and had a good experience. Napleton normally does several track days a year. They were scheduled to do one at Road America this year with Kelly Moss. The one I went to last year was a really nice event. Not sure if they are still planning on doing them with covid though. I should follow up with my sales guy there and find out.
Manuals are fun but they can’t keep up with the sophistication of the rest of the car in the case of the gt3RS...
i enjoy a manual gearshift experience, love my gated R8, but the PDK-s in the RS feels more like a sequential gearbox in a race car and fits perfectly with the rest of the car ...
Spot on. Feel the same way. A 993 or a 997 is designed to be shifted manually, a 991 is not. As you say, the dynamic of the whole package has evolved beyond shifting, which you can of course design back into it, but as backward compatibility for marketing sake. I think a 997 Gt3rs and a 991 Gt3rs are both in their element as is.
I have a 19 GT3RS and think it’s great but re the notion why would you want another car I can tell you that I strongly prefer my McLaren 675LT spider— it is much faster, much smoother, more exotic, much easier to control, etc. The GT3RS is also gorgeous and wonderful driven hard, but I think it would scare the crap out of the uninitiated when driven hard on the street. also interesting that you had confidence issues with the Cup2 tires, which are very confidence inspiring in my opinion
I don't want to speak for the OP but my guess is that he's referring to driving in rain . The Cup2's are precarious at best when the roads are damp .
When I still had my e85 tuned BMW M4
( about 600 to the wheels ) I was shocked how good my 4S's were in the wet.
