I wouldn’t be paying msrp for any Porsche right now no matter what it is. that’s coming from someone who wanted a touring originally. I wasn’t paying over sticker for my first Porsche. I said I would remove my wing and that plan is still a go. Have already priced all the parts.

what gets me are those paying over asking for a GT3 if the car gets totaled do you expect to get more then what your sticker says? At the end of the day it’s just an option.

I sold my $165K sticker Touring with approx. 7k miles for $15X,000 in late February. I was getting bids as low as $135k (CNC Motors) and most came in the $140,000's. I think those who think these trade for over MSRP are current owners who are either attempting to rationalize paying over sticker themselves or their dealers are stroking them. There were many dealers who flat out made no bids because of their concern about the recent market events.

People on this forum often poo poo the Touring as just an "option." Something that you could check off on the configurator. No big deal. And they are absolutely right! But, in hindsight, it was not a box oft checked (why that was can be debated forever), it was only offered later in the production cycle and ultimately, it seems to be more sought after than the winged variant in the secondary market. Is a $15k mark-up worth it? Depends on whom you ask. Depends on what $15k means to you. I had a $10,000 ADM on my PTS Touring and would I do it again? Hells yeah! Here is my car from a grocery store run this afternoon. No milk, no toilet paper, but the drive was a blast nonetheless. #keeper

Did you see the Graphite Blue Touring for sale in the classifieds? $166 plus $15 over.

Why in the world would a touring be over MSRP?

This topic has been much debated here. IMO, the bottom line is that those of us who ordered Tourings see them as a different model from the winged cars - not just an option. And from what I can tell, most of us have a different mindset about them as well. We wanted more classic lines and interior, less external attention, and for some of us, it was a chance to get the same basic formula as a 911R at a discount. I would never have purchased a GT3 with a wing and alcantara interior. Period.

The problem with trying to value something is that both parties have to agree on the price for an exchange to occur. My suspicion is that more Touring owners bought the cars to keep longer (or forever) and therefore there are not as many available. If you like the car and can negotiate a price you like, then pull the trigger. If not, keep looking.

And no, my touring is not for sale - even at $50K over sticker. I don't know what the heck I would replace it with...

Exactly!

The incremental advancements are diminishing and may not provide a compelling reason to buy the new one
Porsche needs to up the game significantly to best the 991.2 and that is a tall order

When I went to purchase, I had one question in the front of my mind "Could I be happy with this for 10 yrs?"

I think lots of people have a certain spec that to them, is a no go, or a dream spec. That has just as big of an influence as mileage on these cars. I generally buy blue cars, and would not get a yellow 911 or a black 911 unless it was thrown at me for way too cheap. I know I'm not alone here because lots of buyers ONLY buy 1-3 colors- you're either a silver 911 guy, or you are not. you're either a fan of guards red, or not.

Ditto. Unless I must have the money, I hope to keep mine forever. I dreamed of having a 911 since I was a kid. This is the ultimate 911 IMO. I had a 2018 winged car PDK and it seems like a different car to me. From what I see of the 992 I don't think I would want it. I much prefer the rear of the 991. The the 992 interior while maybe more upscale is also a no go for me. I have been praying for the world, my country, lovedones and that the Lord would let me keep my Touring!

+1 - and for the last 30+ years, the dream was always the same. I wanted it to be black, stick shift, naturally aspirated, rwd, and without a whale tail...
