Talking The Definitive GT3 Value Thread.. (with actual data)

Since value has occasionally come up as a topic on this forum, i thought I would add this video which seems to answer just about every depreciation-related curiosity we can think related to the 991 GT3.

The gentleman in the video has broken down depreciation rates for 991.1 and 991.2 models quite accurately.. it seems that he's referring to the american market specifically as everything is quote in dollars. The amount of data collected is quite exhaustive including:

depreciation per 1000 miles driven ($2539 ave)-
manual vs pdk
-991. vs 991.2
-gt3 vs 991s
-multiyear depreciation,
-first year depreciatioon
-average sale price of 991.1 vs 991.2

it's pretty much everything. Should shut down every value thread on rennlist.. forever.

gt3 vs 911s, showing how 991s year 1 depreciation is almost 4x that of the gt3

GT3 991.1 vs GT3 991.2

automatic vs manual depreciation

average price of 991.1 vs 991.s for sale

multi-year depreciation

That's a good baseline.. until the market dictates otherwise...

Ho.Lee.Cow.

If depreciation really mattered that much, I'd rather invest the brainpower and time into my day job and make extra dough. Then I'd actually enjoy these cars for what they are and not give two ducks about whether it's 8 or 10 or whatever k of depreciation per fortnight...

Seriously I think guys who want to talk value about these cars will find better company on seekingalpha

My head hurts ^

A little simpler. Try this. Step off merry go round. Buy it and keep it and enjoy it.

$0 realized depreciation. Miles of smiles.

Thank God he didn't break down the Touring package too or we'd have nothing left to discuss here

Agreed. The fine folks who manage my money don't put this much analysis into that.

I find this value stuff all so weird.

I guess if you're heavily leveraged in a loan this kind of matters but otherwise who cares. Just buy what you like and you'll be able to sleep at night.

That's it, I can't take it anymore. I just dumped a can of gas on my GT3RS and lit it on fire. Kind of like ripping a band-aid off and getting it's value to $0 instantly, instead of suffering over it for years. I feel much better now.

I'll never understand why anyone gives a rat's *** about how much their car is going to depreciate. If $25k here or there really matters that much to someone, they really shouldn't be buying $150,000 toys. It's gonna be worth whatever it's worth, if/when they ever sell it. Who cares if it turns out to be $10k or $20k less than they originally thought? It is what it is.

I have never understood this point. Why is it so difficult to understand that even if someone has the means to afford a 150k car, they might also still care about 10-20k?
