All great replies. Thanks. They all hit “truths” in different ways.
Ive driven 997.2 GT3 and really liked it. Yes, I do have 3 other analogue cars in mt. Just getting tired of chasing latest and greatest since when I drive on public roads I can never get close to it performance abilities ( which would be reckless and dangerous) which would honestly apply to the 997 RS also....but. 997 RS is already outdated and you own it for what “it is” no longer because it’s the cutting edge. That’s over and no longer a struggle but it remains an epic drive.
Still pondering in Jersey.

I’ve been looking as well. I’ve had one.
They are asking too much for mediocre cars that are CPO. I called out a dealer on a CPO one and they quickly sent
the car to auction after I confronted them on an issue.
If you get one, make sure you pin/weld the coolant lines and make sure the cam actuator/bolt issue is addressed. I had an engine replacement due to the cam issue.
Don’t replace your current RS...just add.

hey waxer. i sold my 19 rs. 8k km. and was bored of it. going 997 rs. always missed my 07 gt3 since i sold it. bit never liked sunroof... so going 997 rs or maybe .2gt3 (997). in fact after getting off the merry go round, i put my key chain from 19rs on my dd key to remind me to never buy into the new hype again. if it means anything, i havent thought about my 19rs once since i sold it.

Interesting question...when going from 07 GT3 to 19 manual GT3 (with a gap of about a year), initial impression / recollection was that the 997 had significantly more steering feel, engine sounded more "angry", and that it was generally more analog, and therefore superior. However, after driving the 991.2 for the last 8 months, and recently driving a 997.1 GT3, what I previously interpreted as visceral / analog / feelsome now just feels like more "work". Maybe the 991.2 made me soft and jellowy, but it would be hard to go back to driving the 997.X GT3 on a near-daily basis. Or it could be due to the big 5-0 looming next year and low T...

If it means less incessant pandering to the holy grail that is the GT3RS whenever a thread comes up with something along the lines of "how does the GT3RS compare to _______" then by ******* god, YES.

I have a 997.1GT3 CS (which is charming but no great) and a 991.1RS (which I find awesome). Both mainly used for track, but 991 vastly superior on both road and track.
Have friends that keep trying to convince me the 997.2RS is the be-all-end-all and though I think they are very nice believe they will end up being collectibles more so than cars for tracking and hard driving. On track they all seem to go through clutches faster than cars that came before and after, brakes are improved from the gen1 but still not great yet discs quite expensive, suspension also not quite there yet so see many switching to passive. All in all indicates to me that the standard car is flawed as lovely as it may be and desirability driven by its relative rarity. For the pure and unadulterated manual GT3 experience on track I would recommend a 996 Cup well over the 997RS, which is very heavy and compromised in comparison.
