Has anyone had success buying a third party warranty? Like Fidelity or Safe-Guard, etc? If VSP isn't available these policies would be cheaper than buying up to a 991.2 and still provide engine warranty coverage. I'm considering buying a 2016, so this is a topic that I'm working through right now.

I bought my car last 2 Porsche cars from the same mom and pop car dealer here in SOCAL. They offered a safe guard warranty with the GT3, $100 deductible, and the car is covered bumper to bumper, excludes track use. Call safe guard, and ask them for some dealers in your area, and get some quotes.
Safeguard is not the only game in town.

Would an oil analysis of an F series show if there potential issues?

Show a potential issue? Maybe. Is there a potential issue with an F series engine? Yes, inevitably, finger followers/cam lobes are likely to fail/wear.
Oil analysis is only going to tell you what is currently happening, not what necessarily may happen in the future, but has not yet started to degrade.
At best, you may find some material in the oil and you then know... Soon™. But at the same time, no material in the oil doesn't mean you're safe.

Tbh, I haven't seen prices drop on .1 Gt3 at all on carguru search. In fact everything clean title are > $123K+. I really don't see how the bottom can fall out if Porsche continue to raise MSRP on the new cars. Even with the engine issues, this is still the cheapest way to get into a very capable Gt3. To get into a .2 Gt3 is still a $40-50K Delta.

Down the road, the 4.0 engine will be around mor used, I am seeing them sale for 30k or so, bolt one in, reflash the ecu and your ready to go!
I think the .1 gt3 is the best looking for sure.

Does the .2 Manual bolt up to the .1 Engine 🤔
