New motor in, test drive, repeat CPO inspection within 24 hrs of receiving replacement engine at dealership, which included alternator, A/C compressor, exhaust manifold with new cats, etc. Now, will start new motor break-in. Very pleased with Porsche response and dealership attention.

This thread is a little old, but my 2016 991.1 GT3 with G motor just failed. Porsche is sending a G6 motor to replace it. Mine had 17k miles and many, many track days, probably over 50.
Porsche Tech said "high RPM misfire in cylinder 6". Happened at Pacific Raceways, and was still passing people for 4 laps

They appear to be fine. Check out the TPC racing thread, they enduro race theirs.

User Manifold had some freak bottom end failure, but that seems to be it.

10k miles and 5 track days on mine since July 2019 (my original F failed at just below 10k miles and 3 track days) and it's been running great. Made around 425 rwhp on a dynojet recently completely stock (well, with OEM RS BMC filters).

When they fail can you still limp home or does it need a. Tow?

You can drive home in limp mode. Or just restart it 2-3 times and it should be back normal (until you rev high and the cel appears again).

OMG That's annoying! Hopefully PAG can resolve this problem properly instead of another band aid solution.

It looks like this 991 generation gt3 is going to go into history books as the most fragile gt car.
40k miles and I’m still waiting for something to break...

Swear I’m not stirring the pot here.

did anyone that had failure consistently use liquimoly ceratec? Curious if there was any empirical evidence out there that pointed out to reduced failures.

I had contact with an GT3 owner who received a new engine for his 991.1 GT3 in february The Porsche Dealer told him that this is the newest version: "G7"
Does anyone heard of that version?
