Most collectible cars these days most mechanics can work on. Wait 15 or 20 years and see what these electronic wizard machines that we have now are like to work on. They will be a complete nightmare. All of the electronic suspension bits, the rear wheel steering, crazy computer activated transmissions. These are not things that collectible cars are made of. Plus there won't even be 93 octane available.
Not sure I buy your hypothesis many cars high tech are collectibles, and I guess it depends on your defianfion of collectible? These are collectibles, and you need a dealer to service:

I have one coming that will be my daily driver. Driving it yields the best value to me.
This is the true value in my opinion too. But some guys get a thrill constantly trading them. I understand this too. Today I’m in the drive it camp. Perhaps one day that changes but I hope not.
i found my defender in a barn, 21k miles, nas spec...looked new...paid well under market . No rust anywhere
sent it to safari hp, and it is like new now
people pay crazy money for them...weekly I get six figure offers for it...I just treat it as a normal car. They are numbered trucks thou. Not for everyone but very special

my defender is probably headed to safari beginning of 2019. It’s completely bone stock (i’m the second owner and have had since 2004), and it’s time to swap the chassis, update some other parts, and bring it back to normal. I’ve heard good stuff about them, so hopefully your experience with safari is positive

safari HP is 1st class...they build really nice trucks
they maintain mine...and add little stuff. I like it bone stovk

Parked both cars side by side and they look like totally different from the back. The wing is mean and powerful while the subtle *** of the touring is like a hot chick in LuLu's.
Had lunch with my Winged buddy downtown Scotsdale. We parked back to back. 4 people took pics of the touring. No pics of the Winger.

The Gen Z's will be suspect as to collecting cars when age and finances permit, but forget about the Alpha Gen. They don't view transportation the way we do.
It will never be an "instant classic" (Ex: Z8, FGT, 997 GT2RS etc) so forget about who may someday buy the thing and drive the effin shih-tzu out of it,

Juat a few I like and considers wicked cars.
I presume you are referring to the '05-'06 FGT. That would be the 2nd easiest of the group. Access is actually easier for engine/driveline than the '67 Shel.esp 500. Seats forward are a bit more of a challenge.......the service manual is comprehensive..
In my opinion, the only 991 platform cars that have a chance of being collectible (appreciate above original MSRP) are the 911R, GT2 RS and Speedster. Porsche flooded the market with GT3's and GT3 RS's over the .1 and .2 generations.
Porsche agrees with you; at Rennsport they had a special VIP invite package for 918, 911R, GT2 RS (group dinners, parade laps, special separate parking, etc.). The Speedster will certainly join that group.
Pretty sure the only real collectible cars from the 991 gen will be the 911r with the speedster following, and even less so given double the units, but at least a collectible heritage tie in and technically limited still. The other cars are great sports cars, just not great collectibles.
