I don't think it has a chance at all. As said, it's just a GT3 trim package...and far from rare. But anyone I know who has one loves it...so buy it to enjoy it.

They were a fairly small section of GT3 production, and as OP mentioned there are hardly any GT3T available for sale, while there are a lot of winged GT3 being sold. Last time I checked there was 1 GT3T and about 50 winged GT3 for sale.
I don’t think they’ll be collectible collectible, but I but they will hold their value much better than winged .2 GT3s over the next decade, even winged manual GT3s.

Not sure if using a hyperbole but not the ratio I've seen by any measure. Also, there are far more PDKs than winged cars, so if you take those out the numbers aren't all that different, especially when you account the Touring package was introduced much later in the production cycle.
Either way, there is a thread on actual production numbers. US # for Tourings are 456, manual winged cars are at 466. That's as close to 1-to-1 as it comes. In fact, I'd venture to guess that the last 2 months of production will see a lot more Tourings largely because of threads like this and ppl jumping on the "Touring wagon" for FOMO on the next 'collectable' lol

There are very few tourings for sale, although that is increasing as the 918 one year old ones come to market.
I think it is a classic now with all its dated lack of tech.

I’d put it this way; If it’s deemed a “collectable” down the road, mine will be the cheapest, highest miled, most-enjoyed example with a DME report to scare the bejesus out of any RL’er (cause my son just has to drive this one day; he’s 10) ... and it won’t be for sale!

If anything, the R will be far more collectible years from now. But I hate collectibles, because its usually linked to value. I really enjoy driving my Touring every chance I get. That's all that matters.

The way I see it is: I'd be happy to have any example of GT3 be it 996, 997 or 991. I wish I had kept my 997.1 because I'd still be enjoying it today. Classic or not, GT3's and their variants have yet to become just another used Porsche and I don't see the 991 versions being any different. They will all end up being collectible only the degree is what may vary and I definitely see the manual verisions being the pick of the 991 litter.

To all those referring to the “chart” of 991.2 GT3 numbers, you should know those numbers don’t come from Porsche but have been “estimated” by the guy who did the chart. I don’t believe the total numbers, nor do I believe the ratio.
No way have there been equal numbers built of winged and Touring GT3s.
To that point, and the future rarity/desirability of GT3T models, just check autotrader as I just did. There are 134 total 991.2 GT3 for sale right now and only 5 of those are Touring and 4/5 are rather bold colors which goes against the point of a Touring.
I think the silver, black, white, chalk etc Tourings will hold their value far better than any winged GT3, and a bit better than GT3T in jelly bean colors.
