See how the repair goes and if any doubt go for the new wheel because you will always know it's there if it is not perfect...wheel paint on Porsches can be tricky on matching....

Ha. I wish I were that carefree. But everysing muhst be perfekt!

In all honesty, though, everyone who has checked out my car in the last two weeks has pointed out the chipped wheel. Two people today were like awesome car man! Oh you know you got a chipped wheel right?

as soon as I have my car detailed I’m twice as **** as you, so I get it.

its just that with a track car I have to modify my approach or I go nuts.
as soon as the car is 4 years old or has 48K miles it will be restored and serve out the rest of its life (my life) as a daily driver in splendor and perfection.

So minor. These wheels chip so easy that if you drive it, there will be chips. I understand that is a new car and should be a new rim. I tell you if this wheel came in to dealership with this damage before delivery, they would had a wheel guy fix it. This repair would take 30 mins tops and a good wheel guy will make it flawless.

I've already spoken with my local dealers and the wheel shops they've recommended. They've said otherwise. I don't know anybody who will just do a "touch up" in 30 minutes. They all say they gotta sand blast to remove the stock finish and then do a new powder coat. But hey, if you know someone in the Bay Area, I'm all ears.

Im pretty sure the original finish is paint, not powder coat.

Also, you can buy all 4 wheels for $6k, so don’t know why 1 wheel is $3k:

Porsche wheels are PAINTED not powder coated. Unless they’ve changed their approach.
Seriously a pro wheel touch up guy.
You know those pdr who work magic?
There are wheel guys just like that.

Those are not the wheels I have. And they only come in sets of four from Suncoast even if they were. Not sure why they're cheaper from them though. Call up any Porsche dealer and they'll tell you the price of a wheel. That said, maybe I can get one from them cheaper. I'll call 'em tomorrow and ask.

I'm just going by what the three local Porsche dealerships and the wheels shops are telling me and they all said they were powder coated. *shrug* But you're right, looking on Porsche.com, it says "wheels painted in satin black." Good thing I didn't just tell the shop ok go ahead and refinish the wheel, because they want to powder coat it. So thanks for pointing that out!

What's PDR? Some kind of airbrush person?

Assume you'll be tracking this? If so, expect same chips first track day. (along w some on your hood unless xpel'ed and windshield, haha)

Try a repair first ... these dealerships all have mobile wheel repair guys they use. Easier than a wheel swap and mounting, etc. This kind of mark can happen just from mounting a tire with those machines.

I've also seen other guys painting car panels behind dealers right in the lot!
