New 911 GT3 R (991.2)
Couldn’t find a thread on this yet so thought I would start one

A few things:
Still no 4.2 liter engine that all of the misinformed noobs claim is coming
Double wishbones up front is a BIG development; would love to see those in a street 911 (bye bye frunk)

Just out of curiosity can you not just show up with the money for one of these or something of this ilk? Do you need some kind of special credentials to purchase this? Because if I could I would totally have a GT3R or AMG GT3 as a track toy (and the required staff lol) Side note I would love a AMG GT4 or GT4 Clubsport. Seems like that class is blowing up right now.

Is this the car that was spotted testing recently and no one could figure out what it was, if it was turbo or NA, and if it was a last 991 limited edition car?

The mystery car is a GT2 RS street car body with a bigger wing, some more flicks, vents, etc. The engine certainly sounds turbocharged in the videos from Monza. I have a strong suspicion that the mystery car will be a GT2 RS 4.0.
The mystery car is NOT:
A GT3 racer (compare the bodywork, there is absolutely nothing in common)
A GTE racer (see above)
Mid-engined; see the footage of the car from the rear - it is rear-engined

What's the limited slip diff on the R and RSR by the way if anyone knows? Is it the multi ratio hydraulic job similar to the pdk road cars or is it a fixed ratio one like the one on the manual gt3?

Head of Porsche Motorsport Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser revealed that it had considered a turbocharged engine for the new Porsche 911 GT3 R, although ultimately ruled against it after simulations. “We went through it, but still with the rear engine, the disadvantage is too big,” Walliser told Sportscar365. “The weight distribution, you lose the freedom to bring in the intercoolers in the rear engine. It’s not optimum.”

Porsche loves selling the GO FAST CRACK! This car is a big step forward from the current GT3R. RSR Cockpit / Electronics, Electronic Diff, double wishbone suspension, 20% longer rebuild intervals on motor and gearbox, bodywork is entirely removable for quick repairs, aero upgrades are significant.....and it has A/C! :-)
We have a few client's considering the car but it's not a cheap date, 459K Euros, plus shipping and duties, plus spares.....
We ran 4 of the current GT3R's and they are impressive, I can only imagine what this car will be like when it hits the track.....
FYI, this car will be on display at Rennsport Reunion in Sept.....
