Nothing with PAG is ever a "slip".

You need that message to keep customer teams from defecting to obviously higher-powered alternatives at AMG and Audi.

It's not easy to appease customers who have been let down (in one way or another) by the 991.1 GT3R. 3 more years of essentially the same powerplant is a message that needs to be moderated carefully.

Guess we're all super relieved to see the 991.1 GT3 2018 Evo succeed at N24. It's still a very tricky beast to tune properly from what various teams are saying...

Power is ostensibly irrelevant in a BOP series; both the Merc and Audi have much bigger NA engines that make more torque, however. Merc is 6.2L V8 from SLS and the Audi is the 5.2 V10.

The Merc also has a very trick multi stage traction control system; the AMG GT R road car does too.

The outgoing GT3 R has been pretty much nowhere EXCEPT when piloted by a slate of pro drivers. The Wright effort in IMSA GTD is very close to a factory program: Porsche Consulting sponsorship and Pat Long paired with sneaky silver Christina Nielsen. Still no impressive results. That said, the Merc hasn’t been the platform of choice either. Some of that is due to IMSA BOP, which heavily favored Lexus and Acura at the most recent round. The most impressive performer this year has probably been the Paul Miller Lambo.

Did Porsche get a different (ie better) adjustment in SP9 at the 24h race this year? They were pretty much nowhere last year and the year before and yet both Manthey cars were pretty dominant this time round.
