I have a end of march build touring with PTS, changed some CXX stuff yesterday (added CXX seats, deleted cxx learher vents) and got it confirmed.

My car showed up at the dealer last week and today I went by to sign the paperwork. Was told the reason for PTS/CXX freeze was in order for Porsche to maximize profits. They are trying to manufacture as many cars as they can before year end. Seems someone calculated that producing more cars at lower margins was better than producing less cars at higher margins. All the PTS/CXX accommodations were slowing down production. I don’t know how that theoretically happens with the JIT production process, but intuitively it makes sense. Good news is most projected production dates will be pulled forward. I have a friend whose GT3T (non PTS) was scheduled for delivery in October. Right now it looks like it will arrive at least 2 months early.

This all makes sense, I recently got a call from my dealer asking if I wanted to trade allocations with someone with a March/April delivery (I have an October delivery). Perhaps he or she wanted PTS/CXX and needed a post-July build. I turned it down but apparently dealers have some sort of allocation trading system.

Edit: While writing this, my dealer texted me to tell me my order moverd up from 10/26 to 8/17. LOL out of my control but I wonder if Porsche is reshuffling to accomodate more PTS/CXX

CW can chime in here to explain the details, but indeed dealers can trade allocations.

Today my auth dealer in sweden made pts request for march build, the answer from porsche germany said that it was fully possible, but would delay my build for an uncertain time, weeks/months.
My conclusion,
pts is cool but totally not worth maybe missing an entire season of driving, its the motor im after!

I too was told, from a MSRP dealer, who is excellent, that all cars will be MY18, no 19.....and that I have an OCT allocation with DEC delivery.

I have seen the official notice from Porsche that was sent out to dealers confirming this.

I have had my PTS GT3 with a couple of CXX options in for a while. Today I was told that the car is fine, but moving from a March allocation to May to accommodate PAG's schedule and lead-time needs.

Question for the group, for those with a May allocation, when would you expect the car to arrive at the dealership? August maybe?

Thanks!

If produced in May, should arrive well before Aug in the USA. Given there have been a lot of shifts lately and many ppl's build dates moving about (in either direction, mine included), worth checking with your dealer once production date is actually confirmed for your car.
