It's better than another value thread.

My first RL post in a LONG time.

I just got a 991.1 GT3 RS which came with BBI side delete, and I do not have this OEM sides. The car sounds good, very clean, sharp, and slightly more high-pitched than deep. However I feel I need a little something more....especially at lower RPMs (up to5-6k) it is very quiet, and even at high RPMs the sound is a little anemic Trying to figure out what to do with the exhaust. I have literally read all 1000+ posts on this thread and many other threads as well. On my 997RS I had RSS X-pipe, then Shark track pipe which was great, and very loud, used mostly on track but i did drive it on the street occasionally. For now at least, the 991 will be mostly street. With this car, if I had the OEM sides and they were already on the car, I might just keep it simple and get a center bypass; however, there is no way I am going to take the trouble to source/buy those monstrosities. With that, my options without going full system seem to be:

1) Try another side delete such as valved SOUL side bypass.
2) JCR valved race pipe, SOUL competition, AWE switchpath
3) Another side delete (eg, valved SOUL) + center delete (SW, GRP, etc); changing side delete is necessary due to BBi having only one pipe, not compatible with centers
4) IPE catback or Dundon Street or Inconel - this starts to get more expensive than I want.

A few questions I have are: do the various side deletes (valved or unvalved) have significant difference in tone? Would I potentially find something the BBi is not giving me, or are they all about the same when that is the only change to an otherwise stock system? Is there a significant difference in overall VOLUME between option #2 and #3, ie would different side/center combo be about the same loudness as SOUL competetion, JCR race, etc?

Thanks for any input.

Phil from Fabspeed here.
Have you looked into switching headers for a catless version or a catted header for more sound?

A video i have came to mind after reading this. We were able to get clips of two cars on track. One of them with our new WC-Evo Headers and a Center Bypass and the other with just our Center bypass. Granted, these cars do have side mufflers, but the difference in sound the higher flowing 200-cell cats had was pretty significant! Not to mention the Torque and horsepower gains that come with them

Trying to keep it simple, with cost roughly in line with options above. The most important thing is warranty. Car has 1000 miles and comes with nice 4yr extended warranty, do not want to risk that.

The Fabspeed and GMG sound like great options, I am just not exactly sure which setups will void warranty.

I am intrigued by JCR. Lots of excitement about JCR race pipe, also lots going up for sale....

Hey Derek,

Look whose has come back to a Porsche!!!

With center and side delete, you are going to experience a lot of drone in your car. Be prepared to wear earplugs after a few miles.

Hope to see you at the track sometime.

Peter
