1) PDK BECAUSE RACECAR
2) pDK will hold value BECAUSE RACECAR
3) ALL 997 gt3's will simultaneously EXPLODE once the manuals start rolling off the assembly line. Didn't you listen to the GT Execs at the last press conference? They wouldn't explain why, they just said "BECAUSE RACECAR" in angry german-talk.

Truth be told; get the transmission you like more for the desired usage you have in mind. But- Mark my word - the Manual will hold more value down the road. I am hearing this iteration may be the last with a Manual option and even the next GT4 will be PDK-0nly. But- nobody really knows jack

Thought about changing my order from PDK to manual. So I went to my SA yesterday and asked about the possibility and his thoughts. The GM then came by and said "why would you want to be slower on the track?". For rowing pleasure, I have the Cayman GTB1 and the 997 RS. If it was the only car I had and was mostly street with sometimes track, I'd go manual. I'm sticking with PDK. All depends on what you want with the car. Either one is a win.

i agree, the only people who really want to know are flippers or those who lack passion for the car, probably one and the same, its like blondes vs. brunettes, you know which you like, we don't have to tell you

Anyone who says MT is slower on the track assumes all drivers are running at optimal skill level. How often is that the case? Like, never.
Spend some money on driving lessons and THAT will overcome track time difference than choice of transmission.
I'm sure self-driving cars will supersede all driver skills, too -- when that happens. Is anyone eager to argue that's a better choice? The logic is the same.
In the final analysis, shifting gears is more fun and rewarding.

I've owned both, and I love both. Don't buy a PDK if you haven't driven one first. You'll either love it or hate it.
For the .2GT3 I ordered a manual only because this might be the last time I can. Ideally I would own both. But my wife would kill me if I asked for a second GT3.

For the track PDK all the way. For every other moment, manual.

Some dealer feedback over here is that in excess of 75% of orders are now manual. Has completely turned on its head from early indications. Would be interested to see how that poll on here is going (or updated).
So if this is the case, and ignoring AP's quote about lap times etc, wouldn't you put a manual in the RS as well?

Could care less about future value. I'm getting what excites me, I could be dead in near future for all I know. its a crazy world.
I ordered manual, I miss rowing the gears. Im keeping my 16 RS for track fun, that way I have best of both worlds. Thankfully Porsche gave us this choice, no wrong answer.
Leaving in 5 weeks for ED, can't wait.

Ask your GM why you'd want to have less acceleration in gear or have a lower top speed or weigh down the car with more ballast (similarly tiny difference in favor of manual)...
Just get the one that will be more fun for you
