Amazing how different 615 and Y97 look. But I believe Y97 is a non-metallic "alternative" slate grey. Slate grey metallic is code 23F and I don't think it was approved for the 991 GT3. See here:

I don't think many people would have a tough time distinguishing them. To my eye, they look quite different. Y97 slate (blue/purple) reminds me more of graphite blue metallic than it does 615 slate (olive/green). I've always thought it strange that PAG would give the two colors the same name.

Thanks! More pics coming soon!

No doubt, 615 and Y97 look completely different. I was referring to 615 and 23F, in person the metallic is evident, but the picture made me uncertain. I would say it is 615, only because it looks flat in pictures. If I recall correctly all three were available to order on the GT3 (according to a PTS availability spreadsheet given by Porsche upon picking my color).

Thank you everyone. I'm pretty happy about it. I think it turned out really well. Better than expected actually. I was a little nervous doing Signal Yellow without a wing. I intentionally kept the interior relatively plain - no yellow vents etc. - so the piping, houndstooth and carbon on the seats would stand out better. I was looking for a timeless car. Sometimes less is more.

NS2 Media helped me with some renderings and consultations with Nathan at Porsche Exclusive, and of course Mike McNeely at Mark Motors, made this tied for the best vehicle purchase (along with a recent F150 company purchase from Jim Hoddinott at Kanata Ford) I've ever had. Really pleasant. Now I have to wait 6 months to drive it. Ugh.

Maybe I got lost in your conversation with bluehorseshoe, as I didn't quite get where 23F entered. I think if PAG had taken five seconds to come up with an original name for Y97, they would have called it "blue slate" (or slate blue - schieferblau) as it's much more fitting and would have removed any confusion with Porsche heritage 615 slate. Enjoy your car in good health and we look forward to seeing more photos.

My 6speed

Meissen blue GT3 is here after waiting over a year.
Love the quickness of this car. Light and responsive. Fell more nimble than my .1 RS. Love them both for different.
