And, of course, your impressions of the GT2RS on the Nordschleife!
Not sure i will be immediately faster than my ex 3rs! Few guys say it is very difficult to drive it to the limit compare to the 3rs, for exemple Mike who has one 3rs and made 7.09 btg with his car was not able to be under this lap time with the gt2!!
Anyway he was in dunlop and no oem setup, let's see what can i do with cup N2 and manthey setup next week :-)
Its deceivingly quick with the lower RPM redline and buttery motor but With SC on, but with some self control in the right foot and adjusting braking points to accommodate for warp speed, it should be fine.

I wouldn't want AWD in an RS, but I'm curious if anyone that has driven the 2RS feels that the traction benefit of AWD would outweigh the increase in weight. If PAG makes a 992 2RS with more than 700HP, I wonder if we are getting to the point of AWD being a necessity.

In a F-R car I'd agree, but rear engine weight distribution works wonders for traction.
That being said, PAG could prob do more by trimming weight than trying to squeeze out more power.

I wonder when we'll get a CF chassis 911?
I suspect that will not happen until after the next 8 year run completes. Aside from production volumes being a big challenge for complex carbon fiber reinforced plastic parts, they haven’t even fully gone to aluminum yet, although in fairness high strength steel does offer packaging benefits.
I’d love a 2500 lb 911 or 718, even if the engine was a bit modest.

This. Put a 3.4 9A1 in it, with individual throttle bodies.

Have not driven the 2RS specifically, but yes, certainly. Particularly for average drivers, but even for pros. The ability to keep the hammer down in traction limited situations can’t be underestimated. I rode with Walter Röhrl in a 4wd Turbo S and he was able to drive around the chassis adjustability limits 4wd imposes... I’d say even for Cup Car or RSR levels of grip 4wd would be a huge positive. One can also estimate based on the extra weight 4wd cars need to carry when they compete vs 2wd in certain race classes, which is always more than the gear itself.
