In that case guessing I am in for a notice, too.

Yep, me too. Although I think I am an early July '16 build. I'll call my SA next week to inquire.

...not covered? Are you saying the recall does not affect your car? Just interested, being mine was a late Jan/15 production.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. As of TODAY a TSB for plugs/coil was released today. Parts will take about 2 weeks to arrive and I am told its a 2 day job
anybody think there is a nexus between the VW scandal and the timing of this spark plug/ coil recall ?

I'm no engineer but I'm having hard time connecting this recall to emissions issues. Just plugs and coil? I don't see it. I'm thinking along the lines of a compatibility issue between the two. We'll find out soon enough...

It appears that there is a large spread in production dates. The spread is large enough that the problem shouldn't be a batch issue.

If the coil packs are bad and they are adding a new set of plugs to be safe that would be one issue. But it has been stated previously that the plug design was also different. I can see a package design change with coils and plugs as a running improvement. However, how do you get a running design change in which the application skips around over nearly a years production?

"software patch to....optimise the nominal oil pressure in the mid rev range"

Thats the one that has be scratching my head. What does that have to do with coil pack/ignition plugs?

We know there were issues with a handful of cars exhibiting engine misfire cylinder # "X" faults which have necessitated engine replacements. Infact I believe some of the RSR Nurburgring cars were affected. Rumor has it could be scoring of cam lobe due to lubrication issue. Would seem to me oil pressure modification could be addressing this in part?

Yes, there is an actual Technical Information bulletin for dealers showing them how to diagnose high RPM misfires and check camshafts and valve levers for wear.

It's called "Misfiring at High RPM(59/15)". You can access the document in the PIWIS Technical Information section.

I bet this is related to the oil pressure change...

Bosch issued a recall in summer of this year for their own branded parts. I think it just took Porches a while to get their situation sorted out.

From Rennteam member Olli:

"I have just received word form my OPC that, as they went about exchanging the spark plugs and coils as part of the mini recall, they discovered parts of one of the plugs had broken off.

They are now trying to determine, with the help of a camera inspection, if any damage has been caused by this incident in the affected cylinder, the factory has already been notified.

Worst (or maybe even best) case scenario is a complete engine replacement!!!

Unbelievable!"
