Some one a while back, mentioned a colour but not sure if it's actually the true code or it's just real close. If I remember it was called "Titan Metallic D7Z"

It was me. I dont know if its the actual code so Im interested in this question also as Im intending to have my wheels repainted in the next 3-6 months due to massive chipping. Titan D7Z is good for touch ups and was recommended to me by Porsche. However they describe the wheel repeatedly as "Platinum" so we do need to get to the bottom of this...

Hmmm, not sure if this might be it. But when I found the new paint colours on the Glasurit website, there was one colour we'd never seen:
PLATINUM MET SEIDENMATT 0B5
Perhaps this is not a new GT3 RS paint colour as I speculated (the "satin" silver we were wondering about on the patent photos), but instead may be the wheel colour on the GT3?? This might make sense since it is listed as a 2014/2015 colour. Maybe someone can cross reference this paint colour to confirm.

Three Wheelin'
Having owned a car with gloss black wheels, we ordered our Racing Yellow 991 GT3 with the stock platinum matte wheels.
After seeing these images posted by Macca, I decided touchup would be a loosing battle.

I wanted matte black from the beginning, to the point of enquiring with Porsche Exclusive after the GTS debuded about getting the GT3 wheels in satin black; Porsche Exclusive responded with an option price that was 60% the cost of another set of wheels. After receiving the car we had Xpel applied and before much driving (zero chips) I opted for the protection of matte black plasti dip.
Just food for thought, plasti dip makes a matte gunmetal color that could be enhanced with a single goat of glossifier to yield a satin matte very similar to the stock color.

Ryan

Your plastidip idea was inspired Ryan. However with the level of chipping I have experienced with the stock wheels and the amount of brake dust generated by the steel rotors on the track it's only a short matter of time before the grey starts showing below the black IMO. For a street driven weekender it may not be an issue. We have used the plastidip on race wheels but the product is Porus and doesn't like extreme heat so much (gets soft and marks with your finger prints etc)

Has anyone had any luck in buying this paint? What is the difference in the 2 paint codes in the Glasurit color finder - is the matt version just mixed with something to flatten it? Would you still apply a clear coat? Thanks.
