There is a patent issued for what I believe to be a 918 seat.
I have not seen anything relating to a new "sport bucket seat"
I have not seen anything relating to a new "sport bucket seat"

To me that drawing looks similar to what I can see of the driver's seat in the "engineering car" Chris Harris drove in his test video of the 991 GT3. I had been told previously that seat was what would eventually appear in the production car.

I cannot see any significant difference to that seat and the 918 seat. Based on the Automobile article stating the new seat will not be articulating, I am assuming the new sport bucket seat will look like this one. I don't think there is any financial motive for Porsche to develop two seats (sport buckets and 918 seats) when they can kill two birds with one stone. I am assuming the 918 seat and sport bucket seats will look nearly if not the same.

I think there is at least as much chance that they will attempt to modify the current RoW SB seats to pass as they will be to reuse the 918 seat in the GT3... which looks remarkably like the RoW Clubsport which was not available here.

Three Wheelin'
Production starts for the 918 on 9/18 with deliveries to begin in December. The new seats in the GT3 are supposed to be a variation on the 918 seats. I don't know if the delay on the GT3 seats is a supplier issue or whether they have to be certified seperately for the GT3 chassis; maybe both.

Recall that for whatever reason (DOT approvals?) Porsche did exactly this with the RoW Clubsport seats and the Sports Buckets!!!
