Thanks for the heads up Mike, I will check with my dealer how it works in Florida, if it is refundable I will let them put me on the list, nothing to lose.

They need all the help they can get chasing mid engine cars through the twisties.

I drove the 991S at Sebring during the Porsche road show a few months ago. I went through many of the turns probably up to 90% of my normal pace with Boxilla and didn't notice any under steer. It was a sweet handling car and I actually kind of liked the PDK.

I hope this clears up some confusion about the true intent of this car...

Let's not get carried away here. The lack of race buckets does not speak to intent. Everywhere but the US gets them. Thank DOT regs for the lack, while you're at it, thank them for no roll cage mounting points etc. too.

Best,

Best,
We are not talking about the one-piece Club Sport seats. This pertains to the two-piece, thorax airbag equipped Sport Buckets, commonly referred to as GT2 seats.

These seats were available in the 997.2 GT3 as an option and standard equipment in the 997.2 RS. There is absolutely no D.O.T. restriction on these seats.

If the seats are available in the rest of the world and not here, it seems like there must be some hurdle with the DOT, whether it is a certification issue, a restriction issue, or whatever. If it's just a certification issue, maybe there is hope down the road if Porsche chooses to pursue it.

This is not a new issue, if Porsche wanted for the US to have bucket seats of some kind they have had ample time IMO to come up with something that vwill suite the GT3 community and DOT
I guess what was their biggest market is not important to them, the fact that the configurator is unfinished and looks like an afterthought only further confirms that fact IMO

If I am forking over $ 150k for a track oriented car, I want at least the option for buckets seats that can handle a 6 point harness
Having to put aftermarket seats into a $ 150k. Track oriented car is rediculous and will mess up the interior IMO

Very disappointing, more so to me than PDK and rear steer. I don't want a modded interior in a new car. Have any 991 owners tried fitting GT2 folding buckets in their car? No doubt, Porsche will jack the price thru the roof if they do fit.

Yes it has been done on a C2S, but at what cost ?

You would have to store the seats that came with the car, or sell them although I do not believe there is a real market for them anytime soon

Plus you will have to buy the GT2 seats at a cost of 6k
Plus you will have to work your way around an airbag issue if I am correct

I do not expect having to do this if I buy a track oriented car for $ 150k

Just my 0.02
