Accident was not in a moving boat.

Can't say a correlation between the two at this point.
Sorry...there were different stories at the time. Here's one I read: https://sportscar365.com/imsa/dave-maraj-passes-away/

Tragic regardless of circumstances.

Default Reporter wants to speak with Sookralli victim

All: I'm Ron Huritbise and I cover business for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. a daily newspaper covering the region that includes Champion Porsche. Although this story has been in the automotive media for some time, it has not yet been reported generally. I was hoping one of the buyers who gave money to Shiraaz Sookralli might be willing to tell me about your experience, and any other updates you might have heard about the case. I can be reached at rhurtibise@sun-sentinel.com or 954-356-4071. If my email or phone number is suppressed when I post this message, please contact me through the forum's PM function. Thanks.

If legally allowed, I still think that PCNA should prohibit dealers from selling the new cars for above MSRP. That would reduce the tendency towards bubbles and ADMs in the pricing. Maybe the whole process needs more transparency also, but I think PAG and PCNA are motivated to keep us in the dark in order to maintain the impression of scarcity, which boosts sales, profits, and the reputation of the brand. "Better get in line to get your GT3/RS/GT4 now, because they're not making more, these cars are super awesome, and they're going to maintain or appreciate in value" … until they make more.

Many dealers offer the car at “MSRP” as long as you also buy another vehicle on their lot, it’s just a bad practice and leaves a sour taste. A brand like Porsche should work a little harder to make sure its customers are happy, not just consider profits.

Go to the U.S. configurator. Spec a car and then read the fine print. It says "actual selling prices are set by dealers and may vary".

I don't even know what it is to buy a car with MSRP. It would have to be; you've never bought a car from the dealer/marquee or any group of companies owned by the dealer and then walked in and bought one at MSRP without financing.

Any other transactions you may have done in the past (buying other cars, leasing, trade-ins, buying parts, etc.) and getting an in demand car at MSRP is really not MSRP at all.

Shocking....a thread that has turned into an ADM debate.....how quickly people forget what the "S" stands for in MSRP and the basics of supply and demand

The problem isn't normal supply and demand, it's speculation, flipping, etc., resulting in people getting cars ahead of enthusiasts in order to make quick profits or temporarily own cars while hardly driving them. Several posts in this thread note that Porsche is aware of the problem and doesn't like it, but apparently they didn't really do anything about it, which paved the way for this scam. These things are all connected.

Another alternative, as already suggested, is to prohibit people from reselling cars for some period of time, but that has its own issues.

+1000

BUT, I do believe there are things PCNA could do to control the situation better than it does--by a mile.

Maybe because that's the reason behind the fraud?!?

Also there is enough supply to meet demand, doesn't take that much to realize it.

Double edged sword if you can buy under, and the same for over. Swings both ways it’s all supply. The machine is making as many cars as they can all can’t have a trophy like little league.

people aren't forgetting

if you think supply and demand isn't being manipulated here for dealer/corporate benefit, I guess you can put your head back in the sand.

Just to offer supply can’t meet the demand not close. Porsche can’t keep up with WP orders so they had to shut it off. Demand outpaced inventory, and that’s a fact. Many cars are sold at MSRP you have flippers getting stuck look at the pile of cars for sale now.

Demand = demand from people who want to own the car for a substantial amount of time and really drive it + demand from people who want to flip the car for a profit or own the car for ~free

The second part is the part that needs to be curbed, and then supply will be adequate. The second part causes a feedback loop where demand and prices keep going up because demand and prices are going up. Read about the tulip mania: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania

So now this a Capitalism of GT cars vs. Socialism of GT cars debate???

People...Cars are for sale. What the dealer, owners, flipers, etc. choose to do with them is why America is so great (MAGA / KAGA)!!

"PROFIT" It's NOT a dirty word!! (coming from someone that probably never be able to afford one due to this supply / demand game. But, I begrudge nobody for trying to turn a profit.
