Too much work. I like it all done out of the box from factory.
to date there is not one car out of the box that's ready for track. brake pads, tires, roll bar, harness, brake fluid alignment etc are needed. None of the heroic Nurburgring times are done with stock specs and certainly not with you or I (or mooty) in the driver seat
I vote cool looking. Porsche interiors are always a bit blah, adding color with the deviated stitching, deviated belts, or a painted console really helps make them more interesting.
Personally, I love the looks of the deviated stitching. Vastly overpriced for some thread, but if you have the cash to burn, looks great!
posts like this are a constant on Porsche boards , which are monitored by car company moles , and is the reason Porsche smiles all the way to the bank . They might make almost as much pure marginal profit on a fully stitched interior as on rest of the car , on some lower MSRP models !
the big upgrade is the leather on the dash. The stitching can be platinum/yellow/red, but to me the leather dash is a huge upgrade in the cabin.
that is because from the drivers seat the only area you see during driving is dash and steering wheel , which can be for hours, vs seat or door top stitching which you only glance at for the couple seconds it takes to get in and buckle up.
they know that , and that is why they can charge $$$ for leather dash that is required for stitching there and the separate upcharge for steering wheel stitching...they are not fools !
My lime rock M3 has no leather dash nor deviated stitching and look perfectly fine
Yes, it looks fine...but it would look better with deviated stitching!
I have the full leather option on my X5M and really would not have missed it, but needed it for the seats I wanted. Some kind of deviated stitching to complement the steering wheel stitching on the M cars would be nice though.
In the gt4 leather dash option adds an aluminum trim on the doors and some more alcantera. So it isn't just stitching colour. If anything yellow/red colour stitching costs more than the leather option.
I think a light silver stitch would look great and very appropriate but the prices are hard to jusify, especially on something that Porsche has to do regardless. I can see a 15% increase in price to cover the handling and overhead of doing something different but we all know Porsche is blatantly charging crazy prices.
Love it ... ordered mine with GTS interior package which includes the belts, CF, and stitching.
I really like the boxster! The 981 cabin is pretty tight and having a convertible open everything up and what seems cramp in a closed space feel just right with top down

in recent years , I have noticed rentals such as Nissan and Chevy econoboxes or such have generous real or real appearing stitching , not the embossed into the panel stitching pattern of the past , since buyers at that end of the spectrum are now expecting these former " luxury " touches and the manufacturers have to keep up with the Joneses
