Joe, some of us refer to the sportiest Porsche seats of the 997/987 era in the US as the 'thrones'. But others, especially the non-Royal Hoi Polloi or the average Joe (not you, I am sure!), will call them gt2-type 'sport bucket seats'. Your choice, but either is correct!

Well, some of you may know this but here's the update on my original post of Nov 30, 2013.

The owner of the Spyder eventually traded it for a 2011 Black GT3 at a local Independent. I spotted it there and over the next couple months listed my 08 TT cab for sale and found a great motivated buyer looking for exactly my car. The Independent brokered the deal on a Thursday and on the following Saturday I was in the Spyder. Buda-bing. Buda boom.

It's an incredible car and a whopping 849 lbs lighter than the TT cab.

The roof? No problem. I just realized (LOL) that I spent years short-board windsurfing and rigging sails 2-3 x's a day. The Spyder top is similar in the process and goes quickly once you know the routine.

The PSE is a must. Wonderful pops and gurgles. Love the high rev power band and rifle-bolt shifter action.

Love the car. Snooping for Sports Bucket Seats. May have a lead.

Thanks again for everyone's opinions and recommendations.

Now to find a winter driver...

Those seats are becoming unicorns at this point. You'll be waiting for several months before a set pops up in the for sale section. When it does show up, expect to pay in the $7k range.

New ones on Suncoast for $9250 + shipping. Add $4300 for red or black Alcantara inserts. Mmmkay.

Sunset Porsche will likely be cheaper…but still.
