Hi, have looked around but couldn't find any articles about it.
Has anyone ever cut open the chambers on a 987.2 PSE Exhaust?
I am trying to find out if there is any potential to remove baffling/ weld in piping on the "Open Valve" route through the box as it seems a bit quiet still even with the valve open.
Looking to go down the route of modifying the PSE backbox first if possible before looking at touching the headers.
I have been wanting to do something similar, but have a couple things to iron out....
I purchasted the @SOARISTO controller which will allow you to really control the valves as an on/off switch, I need to finish wiring that up, and prove out that functionality first.
I have a rattle in one of my mufflers, so I "need" to cut one open, so my plan while they are open is to see if I can bypass the muffled portion to be straight piped an then the typical PSE part be my "quiet" not sure that will work, but I like the PSE as a full time sound, but would certainly like something a little more.
I bought headers... sounds phenomenal and loud with PSE and very quiet when valves are closed. I also have the Soaristo controller I still need to install.
With headers, I don't think anyone would feel like they needed to make the PSE louder.
Ah fair enough, if you do cut a box open, would you be able to post an image of what they look like on the inside?
I've tried to find an image of schematic, but doesnt seem to be something thats been done on the 987's much, plenty on 997.
Thanks, that sounds great! Did you do them yourself or at a shop? I imagine it takes quite a few hours to swap both of them.
That's not mine in the video, but yes I installed my headers myself. It's not difficult with the correct set of 1/4" wobble sockets and extensions. Also want to have a torque wrench. The most difficult part of header install is most people break the bolts where the headers connect to the catback. I had 4 bolts of the 6 break... they were the only rusty parts on my car. Luckily you can buy replacement nuts/bolts at the local hardware store.
