Default Modify PSE switch to be always ON as the default

Been searching the forums here and other places and have yet to find the answer. Have a 2011 Spyder 987.2 and has the PSE. Would like to have the switch work so that the default is the PSE is in ON mode (light on as well) and I need to press the switch to turn OFF. I'm thinking it might be as easy as moving a couple connectors. From what I have read, on the 996 the switch actually worked the way I described -- Default ON, push button OFF.

thanks!

I have wondered the same thing regarding sport mode. I'd like to have it always on until I'm cruising on the freeway for a long stretch.

It is possible, at least on the 997. I'm pretty sure I have an archived thread somewhere on how to do it.

Just un plug the solenoid connector, it will be always on!!
at least that’s what it is for 997 as been noted!!

That's not the functionality he wants. He still wants the option to open or close the valves, but he wants the default position reversed so it's always in sport mode unless he presses the button to put it into normal mode.

Seems to me you will need a different vacuum solenoid that works the opposite way as the original when voltage is applied vs when it's not. I would doubt that switching the polarity at the plug would achieve that, but not knowing specifically how the vacuum solenoid works I'm not sure.

Somebody created a small board to change this. Pretty smart -- looks like it can be configured to default to on and even lights the button correctly. Do you know Japanese ?

Just one suggestion. Leave it as designed. The unit may work better when you literally exercise it each time you start up, and have to manually switch it on.

If you don't exercise something at all, the time that you will want it to work it may fail.

TheTorch, thank you for introducing me.

I made a Variable Valve Control Unit for "Akrapovic Slip-On Line Titanium Exhaust System".

That is for my Audi R8 V10 5.2L quattro.

I designed the circuit for Audi R8 as well as the circuit for Porsche 911.

This is a pattern for Printed Circuit Board.

This is a rendering image of the PCB.

I asked a supplier to manufacture the PCB. Up to 20 units will be manufactured.

I soldered the electronic components.

And I programed a control program for the microchip.

The Variable Valve Control Unit is completed. The size of the unit is only 50mm x 50mm x 15mm.

The circuit can be selected between for Porsche and for Audi, depending on the position of the solder jumper.

If you push the blue switch in the middle, the aggressive sound is allways on when you start the engine.

Of course, this control unit can also control the Porsche PSE.

To get more information, refer this URL.

Thanks.

hi @SOARISTO I am interested to buy this for my 987.2 to keep the PSE on all the time if I want -- let me know how to contact and purchase. I really liked your smaller PCB, but I am sure I can hide this new one easily as well! Excellent creativity and craftsmanship

I would possibly be interested in a 997 version that plugs in back at the vacuum solenoid in the engine bay rather than behind the switch panel in the center console. Would keep the interior stock looking and don't really need access to it that frequently once the selection is made for manual or automatic control since the PSE button is still right there if you need to quiet it down.

It may be so.

By using a microcomputer, the control unit will blink shortly to tell you when it is "Always-ON Mode" in engine starting. And one more push, it turn off.

With an old and a simple toggle switch, such an operation is not possible.

It is a smarter way than making a handmade wiring circuit, I think.

And It has more reliability for your expensive cars.

Hello Soaristo,

I followed your work a while back and now I discover the v2.

It is pretty impressive and with a lot of details.

But I don't understand if you sale the box or if it is only for you and some in Japan ?

Thank you for asking and requesting.

I am preparing for a few owners to install it on their own car.

I will offer it on eBay or Yahoo Auction after a few units are completed. I will ship for overseas Porsche owners.

And I will publish a simple English page that explains how to install it. But I am not good at English, so the owner who installed it please teach other owners how to do it.

Therefore, please give me a few weeks, and look forward to my announcement.

Great News! I will be happy to be a first test user/buyer and write up the install guide. I also have a good Japanese friend that can help with translation as well. I am based in California, USA
