Finally cooler weather, took the 987.2 BS out early into the cool canyons. It is a near perfect car.
50 miles of empty twisty roads in 70º weather was splendid.
I see no need to upgrade or sell ever.

I just got my very basic base 2011 Boxster a few weeks ago, and I've been addressing a few minor cosmetic issues as a way to familiarize myself with this perfectly wonderful automobile. My last little job (I accomplished it on 8/31/24, actually) was de-bugging my right taillight. And my that I mean that I removed the dead bug from inside the light assembly.

Unwanted, unaesthetic insect stowaway, prior to removal.

Here is the wiring. It can all be done on the left side. I am not a fan of positaps or fuse taps but it seem appropriate in this case. The wire going to that fuse is fed by a 25A circuit so I am not to worried.
Interested in this - want to add a bike rack! Whats the hitch spec if you dont mind sharing?

They don't make it anymore but it was a SporTTow (previously Wilwood?) hitch. You can only find them used. They came with strengthened bumper brackets which was important. Sticker says 200lb tongue/2000lb GW.

Looks like one for sale here for $450USD shipped. No affiliation and not much more than what I paid, comes with a hinge as well. Looking at it again the main plate looks different than mine, looks like receiver sits lower. Mine looked more like this one.

I did the AliExpress Android Head thing. Allows me to have Android Auto. Super easy quick install.

@old man neri nice job on the install and wiring. I have the same hitch from SporTTows which I ran on my 987.1 then when I got my 987.2R I swapped the aluminum bumper bars from one car to the other. I've had issue with the wiring. I don't think it's the connection in the car, but rather just the cheap trailer light kit that came with the custom trailer I built. What light kit are you running?

@Zach L Hey. I looked at your pictures to help me with the install. I didn't run the wire through the bumper like you did cause I wasn't sure how you did it. Mine is just going to through the rear hatch. I am using a Curt 59187 but if I were to do it again I would go with the Curt 56189 as I didn't use the 'power wiring kit'. Instead I just used a fuse tap. I also used my open wire taps. I haven't used it yet but I've had good experience with that converter on my wife's car and I've used another one of their converters when I had to flat tow a car across a couple provinces with no issue.

Which version of the head unit did you get? I see there are a lot of versions listed.

Did you create a post on your installation? Or is there an earlier post showing the installation that helped you the most?

Thanks!

This one. Model: Qualcomm 8G 256G with no Bose.

No post really helped me that much for the install. I just found a quick youtube on how to remove the trim and old unit, slid the new one in, and that was that. I didn't install any periferals (GPS antenna, back up camera, sim card reader..etc). All I use the unit is for Android Auto. I don't really use any of the native/internal functions. I may, in the future, install a back up camera. I think I have a spare one kicking around. Running the wire might get tricky though.

Installed a Soul Performance Cat-back Exhaust which significantly improved throatiness and a much more aggressive tone overall. I can now distinctly hear pops and crackles when decelerating. Glorious. Saved 15lbs too.

Installed a SprintBooster V3 and this feels like a totally new car with the increased throttle response on Sports mode. Crazy on Race mode. Heel-toe and rev-matching has to be re-learned given how different the accelerator behaves.

Installed a reverse camera installed on the OEM license plate lens, wired and interfaced to PCCM+.

Very happy.

Re: multiple sources of support when under the car....... pucks on order... and will look at 2nd form of support. When on 4 jack stands, where would you place the jack so you can still access the oil area? Any good suggestions or plans for 4 wood platforms for the tires or other reasonably priced solution?

I leave my jack under the back as a 2nd form of support when on the jack stands. Saw the suggestion in a YouTube video.

I have not done much work under there, changed oil, spark plugs, coils, but the jack staying in place was easy to work around.
