Thanks all for the offers to help. I've made management aware of this thread.. so we'll see what the response is. Even "super moderators" can't move forums around or create new ones (I have no idea what "super" stands for - it just appeared one day..

I'll let you know what I hear.

Personally I think all 987’s should be lumped together, all 981’s should be lumped together and the 718’s lumped together. That includes Cayman and Boxster lumped into a single place. It’s easy enough to establish if one has a sunroof or a fabric top .
couldn't agree more

the Cayman & Boxster forums have all been devised by 911 folks who wouldn't know the difference

The "Cayman" forum needs to go away completely and have 986, 987, 981 and 718 forums as Afshin suggests

Update: The menu/forum structure for all of RennList is under discussion in the moderator's forum. I'll report back when more of a consensus is arrived at as to what is being proposed.

I'll volunteer to help with the rearranging as well.

I expect if the mods want to make this happen, they can just put out a call for volunteers... looks like many would sign up. (There's a similar volunteer thread on P9 asking for people to help with articles, for example).

I volunteer to help with the reorganization. Although for full disclosure, I have only had my 987.2 spyder for a month and have had 911s for 20+ years.

The separate Cayman forum is the most bizarre part of it. 982 (718) was separated because 981 and 982 owners didn't get along with each other and kept arguing over whose car is better

987 and 981 are different platforms, but they're both NA six cylinder and their owners seem to get along with each other, so nobody really pushed to separate them before.

It's a mess. I blame Porsche.

The people volunteering to help certainly make a good argument to do it.. right now my suggestions to management are: Split 987/981 into different forums - move content where it belongs. Consider moving all content out of "Cayman and Cayman S All Generations" and move it to the correct model forums, then make it go away. We'll see if management concurs. ALL the model/series-specific forums will include Boxster and Cayman, except obviously the 986 forum.

Properly categorizing the Boxster/Cayman data by Porsche model numbers will increase the forum usability and should result in increased traffic for years to come.
And traffic equals dollars to whomever owns this site. I suspect we will see the change implemented once they have had time to digest the idea.

So - a question (not really applicable to the 987/981 cars - but what about the turbos? There is a turbo forum that's supposed to cover all turbo cars. Think my Cayenne Turbo would be welcomed there? I'm guessing not.. but figured I'd ask. What should we do with that forum?

The sub-forums under the Turbo category are all for 911 variants. Maybe just rename the category from “Turbo Forums” to “911 Turbo Forums”? Leaving it as is also works I think, since the sub-forums are clear.
