squeaky clean. 0 reports in range 2-5 and 127 in range 1

I think the car is way overpriced, even with the mileage being so low, but it does have a nice spec (has Sport Chrono, PSE, heated/ventilated seats, locking rear diff). Would be interesting to track the price of this.
Not long ago my local dealer had a super clean 10k mile 7.2 6mt with all sports options listed for 39k went to an out of state RLer.

From my experience, pre-COVID, a good price for a manual 981 Boxster S with your spec and mileage would have been mid/high 40’s. Nowadays, a good price would be anything in the low 50’s - if you can get one today in the mid/high 40’s, that would be a steal.
Why has the COVID created price inflation so much? Is it the reduction of new purchases? Has it affected the prices of 986s? I could swear the distortion is more on the more recent model cars, although the older ones go faster. The 986s don't seem to be as inflated; there seems to be a major, major price jump to any 987s.

Here is one that is the cheapest I've found locally: bargain or money pit?

From what I've seen from 718s and 981s prices have jumped up around 4-8% the past 3 months. Premium sports cars in general are seeming to go up.

Wow just checked 987s and it's insane.

Ton of options on it, perhaps against the ethos of the car in the eyes of some, but likely to go over MSRP I bet.

This thread is timely, as I'm starting to look. Anyone know either of these cars?

2011 Boxster S MT, 66k miles, in Palm Beach, $30k; VIN: WP0CB2A8XBU730078

2011 Boxster Spyder PDK, 28k miles, New Jersey, Porsche buyback/lemon-law, $36k; VIN: WP0CB2A87BS745701

The Boxster S has damage reported to the right front, I would want to have it inspected to make sure it was repaired correctly. I would also deduct some $ as compared to an accident free example.

The Spyder has a branded title which explains the price. I guess it depends on what you intend to do with the car, if it’s going to be a track vehicle and modified then maybe not a bad starting point as long as it was rebuilt correctly.

Found a 2005 (987) with 51,000 miles; asking "internet" price of $17000, need to run a carfax but says 3 owners, accident reported. Very clean overall inside and drove excellent, tires were "cracked" though and a good amount of dust and leaves around the car as if it hadn't been cleaned. Another car on the lot was an older AMG mercedes that was totally spazzed out; motor whining, goofed up inside. Based on trying to learn the ropes here, the .2 is favored but some of the 2005 and early ones are more affordable by far; if given a PPI by a specialist and carfax is this a fair deal? Or should I be dropping down to 986 (I like the interior much more in the 987) or ponying up more for a .2...

The Spyder has some history. Someone took it to the local Porsche dealer to have a PPI done, and it has enough really odd things on it that they ran-away from it. The place that is selling it is a high-volume bought at auction dealer. It appears they usually try to pick decent cars at the auction, but I'm guessing in this case someones lust for a Spyder overcame common sense and they bought it. They had a number of other Porsche buy-back/lemon-law cars for a while - the stories of why they were buy-backs never made any sense to me. So a heads up - if considering that car - let me know - I believe I know the dealership that did the PPI and they might be willing to share it with you.

WOW! That’s a unicorn with PCCB’s. With exception to the wheels the rest of the options make sense and except radio and AC which everyone wants the added weight isn’t significant. Someone should snag this.

Thanks, Don. Exactly what I was looking for. Your response is sufficient to confirm I need to write that one off. The explanation for the buy-back from Porsche on the Carfax (parts delivery delay), and from the third or fourth owner, doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't have the links or VINs at hand, but:

1) you might check out the PCA Mart and search for boxsters - theres a mid-mileage 2007 for $17k, I think. FWIW, 2007 is generally better because (1) slightly more power, (2) TPMS, (3) passenger airbag weight sensor (very helpful if children riding along), (4) confirmation that you get the larger IMS bearing.

2) If you want a 2005, Littleton Ford (Colorado) has a Boxster S with 64k miles listed for $19.6k.

Agreed, but I'd classify that one as a different animal: odd duck. Such a weird build.

Why would someone pay big bucks for lightweight brakes and then add back the weight with the heaviest wheels available?

First time saw a spyder with cs wheels, and they look quite similar to spyder wheels too. Mine hasn't arrived yet but just seeing the pics of this one is making me wanna 'upgrade' lol
