Can anyone help identify these Turbo Twist wheels please?
I found someone selling these with a concerning lack of info. The good news is they are cheap, as they didn't really list them with the right keywords to get noticed by a lot of people. The concern is that without details, they could be hiding something. Supposedly bought them two years ago and never used them, yadda yadda. They are 18x8 and 18x10.
Please have a look at the photo and let me know if you can determine:
1. OEM or aftermarket
2. Backspacing
I see Made in China which would indicate aftermarket replica to me, maybe Sport Edition Cup4s?
Can't make heads or tails on the ET backspacing.
I only want them for track wheels, so I am not concerned with scratches or blemishes, but I do need to know if I can fit them on my 987 Boxster.
Thanks.
I don't think any oem wheels have ever been made in China
I don't think buying a used set of Chinese wheels for track use is a wise decision. Track is the most severe use case for your car.
Do you use higher or lower quality parts in severe use cases ?
Have you ever seen the aftermath of a failed wheel on track? I have.
Plenty of good used sets of oem and quality aftermarket ( OZ or Apex) wheels right here on rennlist to save you money and keep you and everyone around you safer on track.
P-car + Cheap Chinese wheels + Tracking = Not a happy ending.. I agree, not a wise choice..Some things you don't compromise on wheels & tires are what keeps you on the road..

IMHO the minimum requirement for tracking are factory Porsche wheels. Better yet are reputable purpose-built racing wheels. I would never track low-cost aftermarket knock-off's.
Better off with some OZ Alleggerita HLT in 18x8.5 and 18x10, the wheels are flow formed instead of forged but they are light and durable.
Will allow you to run up to 245/40/18 and 275/40/18,. (hope that the Boxster is a 987.2, otherwise you will end up opening a can of worms)

Yeah, I am passing on these things. So how is a new set of wheels opening a can of worms with 987.1?
FYI, it's not the wheels, the original post mentioned using the wheels as track wheels.
The 987.1 are great road cars but have some serious weak points if you were to track the vehicle, costs $$'s to address the weaknesses and $$'s if things do go south.
