Interior upgrades to my 987.1 Cayman S
Just tossed in a set of 996 euro GT3’s, as well as a 718/991.2 carbon wheel. No more staring at the giant plastic 3-spoke airbag anymore! The interior LED lights are a huge step up from stock as well.

That’s a huge transformation! I love those seats, are they the real deal or aftermarket?
The wheel is a nice upgrade too

Also just a quick comment, have you tried routing the seat belt receiver into the inside of the seat like it’s mounted on the GT2 seats? It might give you more room to move the seat fore/after and prevent scuffing of the center console area

Thanks!
The steering wheel wasn’t bad. You just need to drop the windows, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, and the rest is pretty straightforward. The hardest part was feeling where the release springs were on the airbag. But it went in without the need for the GPS Adapter, etc. I didn’t have the multifunction working, but I don’t have the factory phone (and still have the original crappy radio).
The seats are the real deal 996 GT3 recaros :-)))
I got them from fellow RL member Chet.
I definitely will re-route the seatbelts. But I’m in SoCal and wanted to get them in before the coming tsunami rain.
The steering wheel ROCKS. Way thicker and better looking than the mid-90s looking triangle.
The seats look spectacular, but are definitely nowhere near as comfortable as the standard seats/997 gt3 (US Seats). It’s my daily driver, so I’ll see how that goes.

If you sell the GT3 seats put the money towards a used set of GT2 seats, they are very comfortable.

Well I’ve only had them in for a day. So I’ll try them out for a while to see how they feel. But they’re definitely far more supportive and drastically lighter (than the stock 987/997 seats). Aesthetically, they’re far better looking. So in those departments, a huge upgrade.
I’m certain that a sofa would be more comfortable Seating option, but I don’t think that would be an “upgrade.” So it kind of depends on your definition

I Definitely agree with the 997 buckets... they’re bad-***!
But I don’t see those coming around too often.
I initially got these for my 986S. I have a set of 987 RS60 carrera red hardbacks currently in my 986 Boxster S, which I Might put in the cayman. But I had a boring day yesterday, and had the chance to clean the carpets under the seats haha

For the steering wheel? I haven’t gotten any lights/warnings that indicate “no.” The seats did throw the airbag lights, but the gt3 seats lack the thorax airbags. So from what I understand, you’ll need to turn the thorax ones off via the PIWI.
