My understanding is based on posts #162, #165 and #168 in the thread below by a journo (I believe) that was at the 992 intro at the LA Auto Show and interviewed the 911 Line Director, Thomas Krickleberg:
From: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1114...-thread-5.html
"One thing I did learn just now is that Porsche will not be putting particulate filters on anything but those cars that are destined for EU and China markets.
. . . .
Q: Source?
. . . .
A: Thomas Krickelberg, line director 911. . . . I had an interview with him shortly after the launch [of the 992] and its one of the things I asked."

Some auto journalists were also stating that. Like Car&Driver. I'd believe the official Porsche press room over them. However, it's honestly probably cheaper for them to not include the particulate filter so why not save the extra money and not put it in? https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...1-photos-info/

BMW is doing the same in terms of not including the particulate filter on U.S. bound cars. A lot was made of that to the U.S. journalists when they were testing particulate filter equipped Z4s overseas.

Three Wheelin'
Personally, I wouldn't care much about the power. But, the lack of filter's effect on the sound can't be overstated. It is great to know (and, hopefully comes to fruition) that we aren't getting that damn filter! tcsracing1 suggests that the sound of 982 would be better than 981. I'm inclined to believe him. It's all looking good so far!

The latest mule is sounding good. We might just get a 4.0 NA motor on a Boxster with adequate ground clearance and a regular top for those who prefer its practicality.

^ Center exhaust and much better looking diffuser, too.

Boxster T (or R or GT or whatever letters they choose — don’t care). Boxster with a big NA (Spyder, GT4j motor and auto top. Frankly, this should have been the GTS, instead of making it an S + options package.

Whatever that is, if it is released to the public, will be what replaces my 981 BGTS. I don't care if it is a turbo; that sounds damn good.

I'd get a Spyder if it were the only way to get a NA6 going forward, but I would far prefer the standard power top due to the weather here.

Yep, I knew there are many of us thinking the same thoughts.
