Porsche CEO Confirms Upcoming 718 Spyder Will Be Naturally Aspirated!
I asked Dr. Oliver Blume, CEO of PAG, a question at a public Q & A
session on Monday (July 10th) at the 2017 PCA Parade in Spokane
that might interest some of you here.
It was in front of a multitude of enthusiasts & Porsche notables attending
the Parade that included Dr. Wolfgang Porsche & former PCNA CEO Detlev
von Platen.
And there was no fudging on the straight & frank response I received
from Herr Blume:
My Question: 'Will the upcoming 718 Boxster Spyder be Turbocharged or Naturaly Aspirated?'
His Answer: 'Naturarily Aspirated'!
That is good news!
Saludos,
Eduardo

Welcome back to monsoon season!! Have to get our 914's together when it cools off a little...
(I'm assuming that is Wolfgang third from the left...)

I believe they said the same about the GT4. Not surprised, but good to hear it. Doubt this will impact 981 values much unless they start adding GT3 parts to it. Probably will continue to be the same engine as in the GT4 (think the current Spyder's is 10 HP less or something), perhaps with some very minor tweaks.

Good news indeed!
I've only counted 2 other 981 Spyders here at the Parade.
It was great to finally meet you, Eduardo.
Are you still in Spokane?

Great news. Hope they make enough of them so that everyone who wants can get. Suspect demand might be very high for a top of the line NA 6-cylinder Boxster, especially if it also comes in PDK.

Not surprised really but I am curious as to 3.8 or 4.0.

Good news indeed. But would it be called a '718', when there's no 4 banger in there? Well, since Porsche now also calls a mid-engine car (RSR) a 911, then a 6-cyl 718 doesn't sound that heretic anymore.

Am I a "believer" or what?? Like many others, this isn't a news per se, as we have seen a ton of anecdotal evidences. Yet, it is good to hear a confirmation from the only source that matters. Thanks Eduardo.
However, here is the real question: will it be a GT car? Boxster now sits above Cayman. So, the Spyder needs to be at least on parity with GT4. Spyder "needs" to be a GT car! Porsche, don't screw us on this!!
