Curious.. anyone taking porsche up on the radio delete?
Or just sticking with the "free" stereo option?

I went with the AC delete and considered the radio delete also, my dealer keeps telling me how I will be killed on resale!

I toyed with ac delete option as I rarely use it now in the S. There are a few days in the summer it's useful though when it's raining, so a no cost add seemed reasonable.

I don't know if I could go without a radio completely.
It's a curious thought.

I had both A/C and radio in the 987 Spyder…the only time either was used was when my son would drive it and turn on the radio. But I would not order the 981 Spyder without both. And I think your dealer is right, at least in the sense that you will severely limit potential customers without it. The effect on price is harder to determine, no real empirical data.

All of this discussion by None AC/Radio plus bucket seats being the most sought after Spyders ( 987) looks to be owners making themselves feel better about their choices in options. All I see are the prices of those being cut to be sold meanwhile a PDK loaded model just sold for 58k at my dealer.

I don't really care and hope everyone gets whatever it is they are asking but for months all I have read is how the most stripped of Spyders is the Holy Grail of the model...I am not seeing it nor is the market.

I live at the beach and still would want A/C and assuredly a radio.

Well there is one being discounted, but honestly I have not seen enough real data to say that is a trend. I just sold my 987 Spyder/PDK/AC/Radio/very nice options/no buckets for above $58K, yes it was very nice and under 10K miles.

So we have three data points.

I got mine late last year and it had 3100 miles on it and a 92k MSRP for 57.5. and it had PDK, Full leather, PCCB etc....but no Nav. Another data point. The prices seem to hover between 53 and 62 regardless of options. I have tracked for grins ( and to remind myself of my killer savvy/luck) on Ebay and the PCA board, so far I have watched 11 get sold and the prices fall in what I stated.

Maybe it's not the price which fluctuates so much, but how quickly it sells. I had looked at quite a few spyders and wouldn't have considered a no AC car, no Matter the price... It becomes basically "unbuyable" at any price..: same as a Pdk car. I would however pay significantly more for a spyder with buckets. Just my 2c.

I guess for the weight savings/purist or don't think it's necessary.
Honestly adding it for resale makes sense , as you're limiting your buying base.
I have the two zone now.. The first thing I do when getting in the car is turn it off. It's always on by default when you start the car.

I'm basically getting this car for the 3.8 L engine. The weight savings as compared to a BGTS, or BS, isn't significant to me for street use. I don't anticipate that this car will entice me for track use as I already have the dedicated lightweight track weapon, with important enhanced safety mods. Thus, In the Spyder, I'm getting the heavy, adjustable, comfy seats, and the a/c and the radio. I'm not sure that the upgraded radio is worth the cost however as I have a nice one in my current 996 TT, and usually don't listen to it, preferring the sound of the engine. I can only imagine how much better that 3.8 will sound with no turbos muffling it.

Do folks on this forum think that Interest in the 981 Spyder has yet to fully form or reach its peak until the reviews come out? Or do folks think that those interested in a 90k Boxster with a manual top have basically already shown interest there will be only a few stragglers join the party later?

I ask this question because there are allocations still available for me locally, but the dealer with which I put a deposit seems to be hedging a bit - (listen my dealer has only been professional, I'm a first time buyer, and this dealership has a huge client base so I understand why they might want to keep me at arms length until the dust settles) so I'm wondering if I should cut a deal elsewhere or just be patient. Sometimes I think that these things happen for a reason and in the end maybe 90k is better not spent at all.

Thought? Advise?

Is the dealer (where you have a deposit) not letting you order?
Not sure I understand.
