Default 981 PSE?

Hey - anyone have the PSE on their new 981 Boxster or Cayman? Worth the expense?

I personally found it too loud. especially with all the old cheap cars instal loud exhaustes (20 year old Civics) I prefer not to be like them.

We have PSE on our 2014 981 CS and we love it. We had it on a 987 and liked it, and we like it even more on the 981! Some aftermarket exhausts can be too loud or almost cartoonish and detract from the experience. For me PSE enhances it. Its throaty without being obnoxious, and if I want to a press a button and its quieter around the neighborhood or a very extended drive. Its pricey, but I'd get it again (actually we did).

Nice. Tx. Pricing as I write this. Another question, off this exact topic, but in terms of power are you happy with your choice of the 'S' over the base?

Yes, absolutely very happy with our choice of an S over a base. The base is a very nice car, but 50 horse and 60 lb/ft of torque is a big difference in the same car. Not to mention many of the options I wanted are either standard or a lot less expensive with the S. So I have no regrets at all over choosing the S over a base model. IMHO, its worth the added cost.

Took delivery of my Boxster S June 4 @ the factory in Zuffenhausen. Drove 3417 km. from Stuttgart to Tuscany & back.

PSE was worth the stupid price..wifey made me turn it off when going thru the smaller villages....awesome in the tunnels

PSE was the best option I picked. Wouldn't get another Porsche without.

Have it in my car. Was the last option I added before it reached the build lock out date and production. There are other aftermarket exhausts out there which are good but you often run the risk of drone with some of them. I've heard Fabspeed makes a good one but does have some drone especially when out of sport mode and in certain rpm ranges. Ask a few owners who have it. AWE will make/release theirs soon and I had a full AWE exhaust on 2 prior Carreras and liked it a lot. FVD makes one that sounds so far among the best I've heard. Akrpovic's exhaust is full titanium and is probably 2nd or 3rd best but at $6k installed there's no way I really wanna go there. Tempting but no.

Had PSE on my 09 CS and it was great! Awesome man. So when it came down to it I went with the PSE as it was the best bang for the buck/money spent. Added value to the car now and at resale also as some do look for that little button and addition and smark up sales/re-sale accordingly. Also it was factory made and tested as well (so no CEL and No drone) therefore reliability wasn't an issue. Finally it just sounded the best for the car! Could it be a little louder..I think so but it is noticeable enough and every time I hit the PSE button (like that ability too which others exhausts don't have without a costly mod or hardwire fix) and the valves open...its a really great sound guys! Especially the pops and gurgles it emanates under throttle and lift off. Awesome...sometimes you just try to find a place to use it or I just drive a little bit longer to get home.
