Thanks man... That would look nice. I debated between the Cayman and Boxster. Settled on the Boxster S... I'm too impatient. I'm sure I'll eventually get the Cayman though. Since the Riviera Spyder I have had a TTRS and Golf R... Wen't more and more practical and now I really miss my Porsche's. Nothing like them!
So whats the over/under until you sell this car? With all the cars you have bought/sold you could of paid for half of the 981S with all your depreciation

I was wondering how long it was going to take until someone brought up the elephant in the room. LOL.
I've come to terms that automotive ADHD is very common. What I still can't wrap my hands around is how one can honestly say that they have enjoyed a car when they only put a few hundred miles on it, talk about the car like it's the second coming, and then dump it for something else. I haven no beef with cayman, and he should do whatever he wants to do. It's all just very intriguing.
I thought about GT silver when I ordered my Spyder. In the end I went with Platinum silver and am happy with it. . GT silver is one of my favorites, but I couldnt justify the price. Like Eduardo said, it is almost the price of PTS. That week back when PTS opened up for the Spyder, mine was just ordered, and I thought about PTS Polar silver. But it wouldnt go well with Carrera Red. I've always thought the press photos of the 981 is Plat silver.
I'd love to see GT silver next to platinum silver to see what the actual differences are. I feel like GT silver is some magical color that nobody has ever seen or described.
BTW, cayman, your 981 build looks like a winner. I hope you get to actually enjoy the car this time!

I wonder if back in March of 2011, when PCNA opened that one week window on PTS for the Spyder, they would have allowed you to order 'GT Silver'. Ever since that color was introduced in the GT Carrera a while back PAG has been very protective of that color. Porsche allowed it to be use on some special models (e.g. gt2 RS/gt3s) but only seems to offer it to all customers beginning with the new 991 & 981.
Looking back, the Spyder's PTS process in March of 2011 was a joke. In the end only one customer (jsf101) got his PTS Spyder (in Speed Yellow). The other two PTS Spyders went to two well connected dealers (one Azure & the other Riviera). Cayman was jerked around for nearly two weeks. It went something like this: "Sorry, we can't do Audi R8 'Suzuka Grey' but we can do Porsche 356 'Dolphin Grey'; Sorry, we can't; Choose something else; sorry too late, you missed the deadline!". And Dave 1 failed to get his 'Minerva Blue' Spyder approved! In all, it was a royal mess which left many with a bitter taste in their mouths. So I am very sympathetic to Donavan's trials & tribulations and I hope he finally gets a Porsche customized to his own personal taste!
Saludos,
Eduardo
PS Clinton. I think 'Carrera Red' would go with 'Polar Silver', but then again I am biased. I know 'Polar' has a little blue but that would be OK.
you mean the cream white "pinball" that still resides somewhere in this neck of the woods?
I'm all in favor of GT Silver with Carrera Red leather, awesome combo, classic, timeless (it's on my bucket list but I need a few more yellow ones first)

Dino has GT Silver on his RS60 and it is a beautiful shade of silver. It has a bit more sparkle (brighter) than a standard silver but at the same time it has some darker flakes that give it a deep look. If I was ordering a silver, this or meteor grey would be it. Porsche offered the RS60 with Red or Black Interiors only, and both look great with the Silver.
If you guys knew how many dealers I called over a period of 4 months to get a PTS Spyder you would have thought I'm nuts. I was fuming when I heard that PTS was being offered shortly after my car was scheduled to be delivered to port. My dealer didn't have any allocations left and it would have been a risk to give up my car and try to find another allocation to get the PTS. Looking back I really don't care as much now, I love Basalt on the Spyder and it really enhances the curves on the car. You have to see it in person to understand.
Getting back on topic, I can't wait to see the cars you guys have on order. They will be stunning!
