Thank you I looked into that. but it increases the cost considerably. I then would need an amp so I am looking 2k+ more.. I am worried that if I use MIB2 toolbox to allow me to use the PCM 4.0 I will loose Bose access. Not sure if I can edit the program not to touch Bose or if PIWIS can activate it back if I have to. So not sure if I want to commit more money in amp and interface if once I hack PCM Bose is gone.

If anyone needs help about programming and swapping of components,I have done loads of these cars,around 50+ with success.

so if I add the oem amp for pcm4 and wire it you can program the amp and radio? How and cost.

CDR is the perfect canditate for upgrade,if without Bose,even better.
It has the speakers coming directly out of it,so just install new quadlock,rewire antennas and you are good to go.

Hello,

already finalized the install of a PCM 4 in a 981s with SPP...

Everything works well...
Only Cluster do not display maps...

Its not possible as multimedia board inside the cluster is different than on one with PCM4.

did you see this?
is your radio getting info like in video? I am going to do this with a car that had Bose. Waiting for weather to warm up. My goal is to replace the Bose amp with a match up10 and use the optical interface for it.

Info is not the problem,getting the map view on cluster is another story.
PCM4 uses compressed h.264 while PCM3 uses some other format.

The info for fuel etc is already displayed…

played around with different cables and settings…
map not shown in cluster…

tried a 718 cluster…
map works from 1 second…
seems to be a hardware issue of cluster…

same issue at 911 991.1 …

Yes, only thing in cluster which is not working.

Up to now no one had found a solution without replacing the cluster to 718 version…
and necessary to modify the cluster also due to analog revs are not comparable between turbo charged 718 and naturally aspirated 981…

also ask amp of spp is not fully suitable due to high level signal of pcm4…

changed to mosconi pico 8/10 dsp…
