New to me 2013 BS acquired in Nov. Put Sebro slotted rotors from FCP Euro and Tarett caliber studs in Feb. Bought 18" wheels and Hankook RS4s. Today put on the Raybestos ST-43 racing pads. Supposedly equivalent to Hawk DCT60s with less dust and last longer. They are definitely thicker than the DCT60s. Going to put PPF on the nose next week as the last major prep item for the season. Was out doing some carving.. had a Focus RS trying to keep up behind me..
Had kind of a close call.. it wasn't that big of a deal.
The Cayman handles SO WELL, certainly wasn't a panic situation. In another car it might've been a different story.
Coming out of a turn I see this BMW.. saw him right away, lifted off and covered the brakes.
He doesn't see me yet. If I had to, I could've stopped the car in time, no problem.
He pulls out, sees me and covers the brakes. I'm on the brakes and down shifting.
He stopped in the road. I swerve slightly to the right.
Back on the throttle I go past him. Completely under control, no real drama.
Free and clear of the danger. Next twisty ahead!
I think the BMW blocked the Focus Rs cuz I never saw it again.
Message is two fold:
Stay alert and be careful out there!
In a critical situation, the Cayman is an AWESOME car to drive!
New Porsche 987.2 owner and new to the forum. I spent quite a few hours searching and subsequently using the information obtained here to make my purchase. I found many of you have painstakingly documented a plethora of tips and detailed information relating to almost every aspect of the Porsche.
Let me say... You all rock!
I replaced rear rotors and pads this weekend and then I detailed all 4 wheel wells (I have never done this on any car I have ever owned) washed and waxed the exterior.
Installed GT3 LCAs and brake ducts on my Cayman. The work was pretty straight forward but setting the toe with string took a lot trial and error. Hoping to get out this afternoon for a test drive.
Finally received my Rennline mounts in the mail and went to install my extinguisher in front of the passenger seat:
Overall I'm pretty pleased with the mounts. Really smooth operation and easy to use. The whole assembly also tucks in pretty nicely with how close it is to the seat so any passenger I would actually take with me should barely notice it's even there aside from the large red pull-tab. That said, my only complaint with the EZ-adjust bracket is how much of a pain in the *** it actually is to install underneath the seat rails. With the way the seat rails are shaped on 981s (and I assume also 991s), as soon you put put the bracket between the rails and the floor you shift the whole seat forward enough so that the rear bolts are only just barely aligned. Took way longer than I care to admit to actually get everything to bolt down.
I've had the car 10 months but have never seen the tail go up/down at speed. Installed a Go Pro with a suction cup on the back window. My wife and I moved 'Social Distancing' to the car and made a quick run down US 1. Monitoring the Go Pro with an iPhone, I can now say the tail goes up at indicated 78 mph and down at 49 mph.
Installed the Rennline mesh inserts for my radiator intakes. Install was straight forward. Worst part was bumper removal, but even that wasn't so bad if you go slow. Fit was good with just a little minor trimming required. Finished product looks factory. Very happy so far.
