Default Rear wing removal

Hello, Im pulling off my rear wing to make sure the new turbo wing will line up correctly. Any tricks to getting the old one off and back on? Also Raj or anyone else who has a turbo S wing, how do these 4 plates go on the adjustable wing? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Ken968, to start, you will have to remove the 4 cheesehead bolts holding the center 3rd brake section. Once that is out, disconnect the 3rd brake light cables.
You will need to make a screwdriver to get the side bolts out. It has to be a flat screwdriver that has its center section sanded down to clear the screw. Also, remove the 8mm bolt holding the nut to the side pieces and rear sections. Once all those side bolts are removed, pry the 2 sides off. At this point all you will have left is the side rear pieces. They are held by 8mm bolts as well that get screwed from under the hatch. Remove them and your wing is off.
For the turbo S, there will be 4 plates, 2 will have a lot more holes. Those go on the center piece. The other ones go on the side pieces. One forward side of the plates will connect to each other and the rear will connect to either the sides of the side piece or the center piece.
Probably lost you a while back

No not really lost, I got the center part off. From there it looks like only 4 screws hold the wing. I then can see 4 screws that hold the wing, got two off on the right side and 1 off on the left side. The final screw just keeps turning and wont come out, not really sure what the problem is. This seems to be the last screw holding the wing, Im not sure what the other 8mm bolts you are talking about or the hard to get to screw either. 2 of the screws did have bolts on them though. Did I lose you?? Do I need to remove the side moldings or not, they look like they are a pain to take off and put on.

No, you need really need to remove them if you are just swapping the back part. The 8mm bolt is what holds the side pieces to the rear. If you look at each side, they have a hole by the edge.
You might have a stripped bolt and should try using a nose plier style wisegrip.

Now that I look at it, it probably would make it easier to get the bolts on and off with the molding removed, I think I may do it tommorrow. Thanks for the heads up on the plates because I had no idea which went where. Any suggestions to who I should have paint the wing and splitter for me? I dont think black is hard to match but I dont want a crappy job either. Thanks for your help I will keep you posted.

Raj I live in Morganville 07751, I am going to get it painted b4 installing it, I wanted to make sure everything would line up ok though before getting it painted. I have the stock wing off and I cant figure out how to put this thing together, I think I may be short some screws. I have 3 types for a total of 8 bolts. 4 of 900.249.041.01 these are black and the longest of the bolts. 2 of 900.067.351.07 these are small and black I think they are use to adjust the wing, and 2 of 900.269.034.09 these are very short and silver in color. I have no idea which bolts go where, also you said the wing is connected in the front, I cant see how, did I position the plates wrong? What am I missing?

Attaboy Ken, now you're going down the slippery slope of mods! Your coupe will look great with the wing.

Thanks Damian, I need to get the wing painted and the splitter also. As I posted earlier I havent decided where to take them yet, I would be open to any recomendations you have as well. I think I will have the splitter coated with that 3m stuff to reduce scrapes and rock chips. I cant wait to see your cab with the new wheels, If you dont post a pic I guess I will have to wait for Hershey.

Ken, I'm sure we'll have another Rennlist get together before Hershey in the spring. I would think with a black car any decent body shop would be able to paint the parts. My local guy in Springfield NJ charged me $100 for the splitter in Slate Grey Metallic, and would do the wing as well for $100-but I didn't do it before I sold the car. Dobb's Auto Body. I would guess they'd give you a break doing both at the same time.

Hey Ken, I live in Marlboro. I believe we met at Hershey last year. We should caravan to Hershey in April!

b.t.w. did you get the wing from american international racing or gt-racing? ... or somewhere else?

anyway, good luck with the install!

Great Idea, once the date gets closer we can set it up, maybe meet up with some of the other jersey guys on the way. I got the wing from Konstantin, he sent it over from germany. Also did you have your splitter painted locally or what? Im going to put the wing and splitter in the shop next week and Im still taking suggestions on shops. I may just end up taking it to the shop Damian recommended
