Default California shop for hatch delamination?

Haven't had much luck asking in the past but my hatch is delaminating and it's really starting to bug me. This is one of a few things I'd rather not DIY. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with a shop that can handle the fix in California/Oregon/Nevada. I'm willing to travel to get it fixed right. All of the shops around Sacramento just stare blankly at me.

Default Las Vegas

I highly doubt that you'll be interested in going all the way South to Vegas, but I had mine done by a shop called Team Acme - teamacme dot com. It has only been a couple of months so far, but it looks to be an excellent quality job if pricey ($600).

Thanks...I'm in Vegas fairly regularly actually however $600 seems pretty high unless it's fully guaranteed with a warranty. I've seen 944 guys post shops did the fix in the $150-300 range, but most were back east.

thanks, I actually found that thread last night too and have been talking with Tom. Sounds like its holding up, but maybe not 100%. He also did not have a glass out repair, the guy pulled the old stuff out and resealed the parts that delaminated... I feel like a complete repair needs to be taken out and start from scratch.

Did you ever have yours done?

Thanks V2....how long has each one been since the fix? I don't mind the drive and that's a great price, but I would like to know it will be fixed for the Long haul.

I had a re-seal job of the top half of the hatch glass where they scraped everything out that had come loose and re-adhered it. Got it through a guy that has done a bunch for R2Racing in Santa Clarita for $250.
Sadly, it's started to separate at the top center a bit now 6 years later...

I contacted R2 once upon a time but they weren't doing it anymore.

Did you ever find someone close to Sacramento to do your hatch?

I'm afraid the concept of a permanent solution to the rear hatch problem does not exist. I think you can only think about a 10 year solution.
The design of the way the rear hatch says in place is flawed. All the new fixes are based purely on the advances of the caulking compounds in the last 25 years.

Things that help what you have last longer.
-Do not park in the sun.
-Do not slam the rear hatch. I keep it about 3 inches from closing and then give it a gentle push.

I have heard, not sure if it is true, that late model year 944 rear glass will fit. I have also heard of somebody who had a custom piece made in Germany. Took almost a year and cost $5,000 allegedly.

That is all I know, for now I have other little issues to deal with.
