I hope you're able to find more Matador. It'd be a shame to not be able to bring the seats back to original. Plain red wouldn't look right!
Agreed, he said in order to get that marbled effect they would have to do a custom dye lot so I think it can be done. It will happen, I just have a lot to do before I get to the seats but they ARE the showcase of the car.
Jeff I am glad that you are restoring Matador. All 968s deserve to be restored regardless of condition or history just the same as one would restore a 356, 550 Spyder, 959, 964 flachbau. The 968 is a very special breed. Time will tell... I was happy to see a post a few weeks ago of a red 968 cabriolet shell off to restoration. I believe in the 968 as much as you do and the many dedicated 968 owners in this forum.

As I shop for my next car red interior is a major filter. Love it. you will notice but will a different brand get close? Hoe about Sue from Gas Monkey? She seems to be able to do anything?
Of the leather pieces, I will keep the original lower dash, and door panels, console, and e-brake handle. the leather is nice on these pieces. the front seats need to be redone. the rears aren't bad but i will probably do them so they'll match the front along with the console door.
It is a very cool interior. i don't really like red but the combination of the all that black and that the red is an apple skin red make for a striking result.

Its difficult to tell if this is matador red but whatever it is looks great. Image quality not so much:
Jut stumbled onto this thread. I have a 964 with matador red interior. Haven't looked for replacement leather yet, but I'm curious as to what you find out!
Here is a picture from when I purchased it
