Thanks, I need to get my house built so I can get a garage, do my own work and not deal with mechanics that do stuff like this. So ticked right now as this could have been a very expensive fix if that washer was a little bigger and ripped through the belt.
I wonder if all that belt dust is going to get into anything and cause havoc on rollers, or of a good blast of air will be sufficient to clean it out.
What is the book rate in hours (which is what I am sure I paid) for a full job (water pump, coolant, rollers and belts). I had other work done and plan to ask for all the labor plus any new parts I need to get. I just plan to pay the 600 or so dollars for the belts, rollers, gaskets and water pump effectively.
There is a lot of fiberglass in those belts and it is some nasty stuff. I would not touch any of that with bare hands or you will be itching for days.
I would have to check on labor hrs for the job but it would have to be in the 6 HR range.

I am also suspicious of a waterpump being installed in my car for a few months having that much rust on the impeller pully already?
I'm guessing it's one of the 2 long bolts that hold the rear belt cover to the oil pump, down either side of the crank pulley.
That would make more sense, putting the rear cover back on, belts, got distracted and left the bold there accidentally. I had to be placed, I can't see a bolt falling there.

I wouldn't think it would be either of those. That was one of my thought as well but when you think about it, those bolts are too long to actually be able to make their way out with the front cover on.
The water pump sits much further in, in comparison to the bolts you mention, which sit flush with the rear belt cover.
Easiest way to know is to measure the length of the bolt. That would easily verify exactly which bolt it is.
Looking at your second pic, the view from underneath, look at the belt gaurd that wraps around the crank pulley for the balance belt. Its hard to tell in your pic, but it doesn't appear that the bolt that holds the piece on is there
#26 is not a fully threaded bolt if I remember correctly. The bolt that holds the rear belt cover is a fully threaded bolt though. My bet is on the lower rear belt cover bolt if its not a waterpump bolt. A simple measurement would put all this to rest.
The 968 have a threaded spacer between the balance belt guide and the oil pump, unlike the 944. Item #9 in below diagram. Agreed though a measurement of the bolt length would narrow down its proper location
