Default Door panels

The top of my door panels has cracked in a few spots. Is their anyone who repairs this or has anyone fixed this on their own?

Thanks
Jeff

Never used them, but have heard good things and if I ever get my dash redone, probably go this way.

No suprise. My old cab was classic/light grey and I was also seeing deterioration of the upper door panels. So here is my take on this.

The upper secitions are a molded plastic. You really can't refinish them or wrap them and have it be correct. However, they hold out great when they are in black, the only color that porsche produced that held up well. I would locate a set of black or cashmere/black door panels. i would remove this upper section, clean, and have them spray dyed in classic grey, and then install the new tops on you existing door panels. I think the above would give you the best and most correct result. i never got to try it on mine because i sold the car. good luck. Jeff

My car had the discolored grey tops as well. I took it to a shop that wrapped just the top sections in a slightly padded grey vinyl and they look great. I can't seem to find my photo, but they look pretty stock. As I recall it was about $100 per door panel a few years back.

I'm not sure I agree with this statement. Picture is the split in my black panel. It's right where the driver rests his elbow. Since it's about the only cosmetic blemish inside my 100K mile '94, it really bugs me. So I too am in search for a repair.

Lear, you'll have to get a look at the type of deterioration that Husky is talking about. You will see this on the classic grey and it doesn't look anything like your photo. Your photo looks like typical usage based damage. Overall, the black actually looks nice. With the Classic grey is starts to disintegrate. It kind of starts to look like the surface of the moon in miniature.

Husky, can you post a photo?

Try this. Available online. I've had 4 cars with that interior and 3 were afflicted with the tobacco colored stain and the splitting. This did wonders. Be sure to apply it as they instruct.
Leather World
for dash, sills and anything leather or vinyl.
dye colorant 1916 gray, permanent water base color coating, professional grade.

for carpet
same

there is also a cleaner/prepper

I think it comes in wipe on or spray on. I preferred wipe on for control in small space.

I'm actually using this on the Pasha car now and its working great. So #4 for me.

Note to above. The carpet product is the same code but a separate product.

I think I get the difference Jeff. The black is still nicely black on my panel. Not discolored at all. I can see how a lighter color might react differently to time, heat and sunlight. OTOH the crack I have still looks like an open wound, and I don't like it at all. I sure would like to know of a fix.

I have a driver side panel in gray without stains and cracks available. Came with the Pasha car but I am satisfied with my restoration and don't need to keep the extra. Can anyone advise a fair price for it. Don't need to get Partheaven price for it.
